Also, what does christianity=war have to do with George Bush? The war in Iraq has nothing to do with Christianity, the minority of priests who've commited crimes do not do it in the name of God.

I think you'll find that human rights, womens rights, crime, poverty, racism are all better in Western CUlture which was shaped by Christian Law. I don't get whatever point you're trying to make, it just seems like a baseless jab at Christianity. Which is fine, you or I don't have to like it, but to compare anything going on in the west with the middle east (especially as it relates to religion) is missing the mark by a mile.

I'm guessing you didn't intend that... but there are still some very serious issues going on with large groups of people who identify themselves as Christians.. or the church itself. No, they aren't wars, but in some ways they are just as destructive to people mentally.

Yeah... I was jabbing at GWB. But cmon... Primarily Christian abortion opponents advocate not killing fetuses yet many are willing to send our soldiers to war. In this particular case, I think it's an unjust war, and a huge strech on GWB's part to link it back to terrorism. I'm sure some would see this as war between primarily Western Christians versus Middle East Muslims. I personally don't.

And the priest thing... They were abusing children! The whole fucking church hierarchy knew and did nothing until it came out. How Christian is that?? That is the crux of my issues with the faith. Hypocricy from top to bottom.

That is fine, but if you don't like Christianity you don't have to participate in it. Do most people in the middle east have that choice? And it's debatable whether Christianity has "issues" that are destructive to people, I mean I see your point but many people disagree with that. However it is not debatable at all (in my eyes) to supress womens rights, behead people while yelling "Allah Ackbar", etc

Personally I agree with you about war/abortion. It's a good point but they would say that soldiers signed up for the military AND some believe there is a good reason (most of the troops voted for Bush keep in mind). Whereas as unborn child signed up for nothing and has not done anything to be judged on. I do think the counter-argument is valid.

The Catholic Church was wrong in the way they handled it and the guilty Priests should be prosecuted to the highest extent of the law. I just don't think that is as bad as what's going on in Iraq right now, or Iran, Jordan, etc (p.s. I like King Abdullah II)

The Muslims I know don't seem to try to do either.

And that has absolutely nothing to do with troops supporting war detractors or war detractors "supporting" troops. I support the troops, NOT the retarded war, and if they troops are true Americans they'd agree with my freedom to express myself.

Hell, I KNOW some soldiers who hate the current administration. And I feel a lot more comfortable in the belief that not every soldier overseas is some automaton at the end of Bush's Rove's puppetstrings.

The same could still be said of some Christians. I don't need to dredge statements made by the Phelps crazies, do I?

As for the 'sheet heads,' as you so insensitively put it, I happen to know a good deal of Arab Muslims at my place of employment. I am on good terms with a few of them, and never once has any of them tried to convert me, and if they've tried to kill me, I've not noticed that, either.

It's just a thought, but you might not want to cover an entire cultural/racial/ethnic group with the same blanket. It would be no different from me saying that all Christians are gay-hating, abortion-doctor-killing psychopaths.
