I would, however, just like to point out that not EVERY woman is a feminist, nor does every woman believe in the fundamentals of the feminist movement.

In addition, I'd like to point out that, if you've never been a victim of abuse, you might not understand the mentality of someone who has been abused, sexually or otherwise. If you have, then you've obviously become stronger for it, and forgotten what it might have been like to be young, desperate, and afraid. Sure... these girls could say no, they could go to another recruiter, but they could also be too scared to say no, for lots of reasons people like you and I might find ridiculous, but would also be completely valid.

And now, I'd like to reiterate that I'm not getting involved.

I just now read this article. I cant believe that this is happening. These women want to enroll to protect their country and they are being abused. I think that that is just going to deter women that would make good soldiers from joining because they are afraid of it happening to them. Thats just wrong. The women that dont say no are probably afraid that if they dont that they wont be accepted and that is the only thing that they have going for them and they believe that they dont have anything else or that is the only thing that they want to do and they thought that they wont be accepted is terrifying. That may be what these recruiters are preying on.Their FEAR. That is my thoughts on the subject. Didnt the article say that it wasnt just women that this was happening to either though?

Women who would be deterred from enlisting for fear of being propositioned should not be soldiers. Women who are afraid of men in GENERAL should not be soldiers. MEN who are afraid of men should not be soldiers, sexual orientation notwithstanding.

The thing about the woman who pressed charges on the guy who actually took her back to his place... Sigh. Sounds like she was kind of stupid or naive, but SHE might still be "qualified" to enlist. The ones who just go into the office and the guy says, "Hey baby, if you blow me I'll assign you wherever you want," and DO IT because they're scared NOT TO are retarded and are setting real women back decades. Not that they should keep quiet about their experiences; of course they should hang the corrupt recruiters out to dry. But they should probably think about another career field...

As a former soldier, I agree 100%.

others depend on you and your ability to take charge and deal on the fly or their lives (and yours) can be lost. You need to have a certain "something' within you. If you do not, you are a liability to the machine.

Did you not read my post...?? Some of them feel like they have no alternative out of whatever crap situation they're in. They're trying to make a better life for themselves and they get taken advantage of. Sure they could say no... but in their place, that's too big a risk. Soldiers don't all have to have giant balls of steel...

And like Walgreen's there's a different recruiting station on every corner. There's 5 stations within 30 minutes of me. Recruiters are shit-ons. Nobody should ever feel obligated to do as they say. As a matter of fact you can damn near get recruited into the Army and call your recruiter "bitch" the entire time.

so there is a recruiting office on palmer and wayne road by subway. for like 3 years the word Rapists was spray painted across the front of the building right on the glass with black spray paint. it got cleaned up a few times but was back within the week. i remember this little kid saying i want to be a rap-ist so i can rap for millions of dollors. I told him it meant they rap christmass presents not sing. personelly i would shoot a rapist in the back of the head like mice and men, wright it up as a training accident or friendly fire. make sure everybody knows accidents happen to alot of people...........All the time, make sure they get what i'm saying.
