I like all kinds of music, and try to experiment with all kinds of music.

there are times when I may hear of what I hear on WRIF. Alot of basic pop music is that way too, but I do enjoy a well written pop song, which is hard to find.

And Im in a band, and sometimes sing songs that I think technically "suck"....but somebody else loves it.

there are times when I want to get togethor with someone and write somethign completely over the top in terms of production. ANd there are times when I jsut want to hear an acoustic guitar and a voice, which to me is much more challenging to do well.

Hrmm.

In terms of music or books im not really not sure I've ever had a friend suggest something that sucked. At least not a reasonably close friend.

Theres be a few things i didn't get into right away... Like Frank Sinatra for instance, but eventually i got into it. Usually if someone with half a brain , is very strongly opinionated about X or Y i end up having to look at it, even if its outside my comfort zone. Given enough time, anything but the most steaming piles of poo , are "likeable" just takes a bit of an acquired taste at times.

There has got to be something that has been suggested to me that ended up being total ass. But i cant seem to think of anything at the moment.

<thinks hard>

Well, Sailor Moon was pretty crappy, but that was a highschool GF that suggested that. Really i didn't even have my own concepts of "good and bad" formed way back then.

Hrmm <ponders some more>

G. G. Allen.

I had a friend that played a GGA video for me.

I hugged him and left his house.

Steaming pile of poo?

G G Allen?

Can I have a steaming pile of poo, please.

Thank you.

^ you are the one who used the "steaming pile of poo" comment.

and THAT made me wake the neighbors.

And I would enjoy poo instead of G G Allen any day.

If it were me,

I would be more offended if someone lied to me,

or did not give me their honest opinion,

in an effort to protect my feelings.

In fact,

I have no respect for dishonesty in Any capacity. :verymad:

I have tremendous respect for people who are Always honest with me. :respect:

As far as music,

if I like something and I ask you to listen to it,

and tell me what you think,

and you end up not liking it,

That's ok with me.

It would be a slight bummer.

But, I'd take comfort in the fact that,

just because you don't like it,

that doesn't mean I have to stop liking it or listening to it.

This could apply for more then just music.

If I cook something, and someone doesn't like it,

Oh well...more for Me

I had to lie to spare someomes feelings the other day. I didn't really have that good of a time. The sex wasn't great. And I didn't feel like playing sex instructor. I hope next week is better. I suppose I should go for people closer to my own age but they are boring. And drink too much.

I don't beleie in 'brutal honesty'. In the end, after all is said and done are we are left with is our feelings, and the comment 'I'm just brutally honest' is a sorry attempt at justifying being a bitch/asshole. That's not to say that I lie -all the time- but if I see no benefit in hurting you (And sometimes the truth itself is -not- good enough reason) I'll lie.

For example, My mistress (HomicidalHeathen, for thoes who don't read my sigs) alluded that she lied to someone though the sex wasn't very good. That's a perfect example of an 'acceptable lie' in my book. What purpose was there in hurting someone's feelings on such a subject, especially when it's an extreamly subjective topic?

Now there are some things you -really- can't lie about, although you know it will only hurt the person you are talking, but the idea in most of these situations is that it can and does change something for the better. For example, a friend of mine is so self centered that she didn't notice her boyfriend slipping away until it was too late. She's all pissed saying he wasn't man enough to handle her, and all of her friends blindly agreed... save me. I told her what was what in hopes that 1) she might salvage the relationship, and 2) she might one day see the problem arising again, and fix it.

Last example. A good friend of mine was working a haunted house one holloween, and he got his girlfriend a job working the thing as well. Due to someone's callousness, his girlfriend felt insulted, and hurt, and walked off site. The company refused to pay her, but her boyfriend, in an endevor to make her feel better, paid her salery out of his own pocket, and told her that they had sent her pay home.

Of course being a fundamentally good person, who payed way too much attention to televison, and movies, he began to feel guilty about having lied to his girlfriend. He asked me what he should do, and I told him 'take that lie to your grave with you. It made her feel good, and so the only purpose you telling her the truth will serve is making yourself feel better, and makeing her feel worse about the situation.'

Course the butt nugged didn't listen, went and told her the truth, and, just as I said, she felt worse and began touting on about how she couldn't trust him because he lied to her. Bullshit, but you live and you learn.

Just my $.02

Well my best friend since childhood is the one I started this thread about. She is like the only person in the world I can be brutally honest with.

We are as different as night and day.....and she is a bit pushy about her tastes, so I have to.

Yup, last week when she wanted to show me yet MORE baby pics......I said NO!!!! No more baby pics!!!!

And I also told her to turn the booty rap crap off. heh.

Usually I am a polite guest. But I can be myself with her......I guess that is why we are still friends.
