Polygamist Compound Searched...

How would you know what I do and do not understand? For that matter.. How do you know what I fear?

I reject polygamy because it has no benefit to society and comes with far to many emotional risks to those involved.

I find it to be nothing more than a case of having a cake and eating it too.

If I could see some great benefit to sociaty, I would be all for it. I don't.

Sorry, I s'poze I put that wrong.....

I was not trying to insult you, or make assumptions.....

Universal acceptance and happiness for all is a benefit to society.....

If you don't see that I am sorry.

Good for you.....

I accept you.....

I don't feel anybody should be forced to practice anything they don't will to.....

Acceptance of others ways of life is what this world needs.....

Look at history, would we have evolved without acceptance.....

Let's keep evolving people, don't kick the purple monkey, give it a hug and say "I love you, even though you are different"

See, it's not even fully polygamy I'm against either, it's just children imo do better in single parent homes. It's just to me I accept what people are doing so long as it doesn't interfere with anyone else's will...and to me being in a polygamist setting may interfere with a child's will, so to speak, and therefore could be potentially damaging. That's all, my two cents.

Kinda like if two parents were literally having graphic sex in front of their child (as an example of what I'm talking about), definately not a good setting for kids is definately scarring, so I don't accept it.

We've evolved all these thousands of years to inherrently have a certain mindset, for the majority (this differs from race to race also). There's a few people whom for whatever reason are vastly different (I being one of them), but those people have to understand that the majority isn't like them at all and can't be. So how do these people REALLY know that their child will be born different like them? That's why I just say don't put children into those situations in the first place.

Basically I draw the line of acceptance at where people either are getting hurt or something is going against their will. If you're doing something that isn't hurting anyone then I guess, whatever keeps your shit floating?

That sounds great, but if the parts of a machine do not work together, it will not work at all.....

I see a Huge machine.. we call it the United States of America. Most of it's parts are working together just fine. Granted, right now.. it's running a bit rough... and at other times it has purred like a kitten with all it's parts working in harmony (this has been rare).

The small percentage of it's parts that don't fit... should not expect the whole machine to change it's nature so they fit in. They need to find a place they fit.. because every part they touch changes because of the contact... slowly.. the machine will change.

Sudden change... breaks things. and in this machine.. when things break... people die.

Yeah...but I've NEVER had anyone in the Blue Equinox Oasis or whatever it is NOT try to tell me I'm wrong.

Almost ALL of them tried...and NEVER did I try to push my Christian beliefs on them, I just basked the irony because I love that kind of hypocrasy, it makes me giggle.

Even high Deacons and people from Isle of Avalon and all of that just telling me to "have an open mind" when I had read the Book of the Law and already decided that it was totally opposite of what I feel to be true.

So if that's the case, untrueness in that belief system must be epidemic. That's why I thought the whole thing was just fucking hilarious, I basically just stopped talking to all of them. I mean hell, I even went to mass and played along being totally polite 100% of the time about everything and following the ceremony, ate the little wafer cakes and everything.

All they could do was sit around and talk about how they were going to convert me and all I could say was "Look, I'm just here to support my boyfriend because I love him, okay?"

Shit...you go to Lakeshore Presbyterian church in St. Clair Shores (the church my family has been going to for three generations) and they know you're not Christian at all, they just shake your hand and give you free cookies and coffee, and that's that.

People like that make all the others look bad.....That sucks!!!!!

If you love someone, you tell them the truth.

If you love someone you do your best to help them out if you are SURE that they are headed for trouble.

If they listen and turn from the trouble they are headed toward, YAY! you are both safe.

If they dont listen, at least you know you tried.

Keep walking on, and help the next person..

We will each answer for our own choices.

No real point in arguing.

That's cool, I accept your opinion.....

Even though I believe it to be a bit skewed.....

That comment on the sex thing in front of kidz is a bit out of the ball park man.....

That is sick.....Not related to polygamy.....

I can't help but think people here are mixing up tolerance with acceptance. You don't have to accept someone else's religious practice or their polyamory or whatever, but you should be wiling to tolerate it. Otherwise, you can't expect the same from anyone else.

Funny that the majority would rather sacrifice the little people to survive.....

That's fine......

I know where I will be on judgment day!!!!! :welcome:

Oh, I know, I just loved the irony of how it's supposed to be a free-minded following and the followers were anything but that. I get off real hardcore on that kind of hypocrasy, I still was just polite and bit my tongue alot and laughed about it in private as I told everyone I knew how dysfunctional the whole situation was.

As it is Christian to a point (since I don't follow the Old Testament, that's where many Christians go wrong since it wasn't written for us).

Trust me I know, I had to hear it for three freaking years  and that's ALL I HEARD about.

It's not related to polygamy, it wasn't meant to be. I was using it as an example of where I would draw the line of acceptance/tolerance. If someone told me I should be expected to accept/tolerate that sort of thing I'd tell them they were wrong to their face, because there's certain things in this world that weren't meant to be accepted/tolerated, and those types of things are behaviors that hurt or interferes with the well-being of others.

I was using it as an extreme example. I don't believe polygamy to be as scarring as that example, but I do believe it to have subtle negative influences, and that's just from my own beliefs.

I know the many people you speak of from that shop.....

They misrepresent allot of ways of life.....

Sad really.

There are a ton of negatives you could run into, and a child can see untold horrers in a 'normal' family...

I know, FIRSTHAND.

(and I am not smiling right now.)

I think its ok if:

All parties involved are of legal age, have consented on an informed basis meaning, they DIDN'T grow up brain washed in a compound with no outside influences like these people, at least thats what I heard.

Oh and if it goes both ways, that the ladies have the same right to do it as the men.

They've been out of business for about a year now maybe...?

I thought it was stupid that they changed locations from 4th Street to like 6th and Washington, it killed their business and there was no longer room in there for a temple so people could come to mass.

Ehem... the Constitution dictates otherwise...

..Life..Liberty...and the pursuit of HAPPINESS.

Thank you...that is all.

The key word is PURSUIT. You are not guaranteed happiness.

Also, nothing I have said would prevent that pursuit... and it's eventual goal.

All I have trying to say is that you cant expect everyone to accept you. You can't force your views/morals on them.

What you can expect is tolerance.

You live your life the way you want to. Don't expect everyone to like it or think it's right. the father out there you are.. the less acceptance your going to get. And if you go to far... well.. you went to damn far.

Social change does not happen fast without bloodshed.

Viva La Revalution! (sarcasm)

I can promise polygamists, people with open marriages, sluts, manwhores, transexuals, etc... the same thing I promise anyone else... if they are not hurting anyone, and there is no victem... indifference... I am not so big on acceptance, that would mean that I approve of it, tolerance sounds like it makes me mad but I am just putting up with it...that is also not true... if no one is getting hurt, I just don't care.
