What is the smallest car you've seen on the road since the gas been spiking up?

This old guy came to the drive-thru at my job in a festiva he says it gets 47 miles to the gallon I think he was exaggerating but I dont know shit about gas in cars cuz I dont drive. Another small car I have seen would be the metro. That little bitty car had me luaghing so hard cuz it was these to huge obese guys driving it. LOL

Hell, I get 88 miles to the gallon on my scooter... I wouldn't put 47 past a Festiva, especially if it was a manual transmission.

The smallest cars I have seen are the Smart ForTwos.

They are rated at 36 miles per gallon combined between city and highway, but assuming you do a good deal of highway driving, you could probably see perhaps as much as fifty miles per gallon.

I get 12 or 14 a gallon... I suck. Needless to say, I've been wanting a new car badly.

I kinda think these cars are cool. I would be very leery of them in an accident though; one bad head on impact, and the engine would be in my lap lol. If the inside of the bed of my truck was alittle wider, I could fit one these cars in it lol. They look fun to drive though.

I've seen more experiments with hydrogen fuel cells.

plenty of them here.

60mpg (british gallons) is possible, the diesels (thier imported left hookers) get near 80.

a friend took a 500 mile round trip in her brahbus tuned one with shopping. verdict: OK about the city, useless on freeway.

before i smashed mine i was getting 60mpg at 45Bhp

next car (if this week goes OK as regards the check over the vehicle) is 60mpg combined at 106bhp

Renault Megane SportTourer 1.5DCi (106)

Actually, Brian, the engines are in the back, like an old-time VW Bug.

Oh..ok. Well I'd hate to be drivin/riding in one of those cars, and have some bozo rear-end the car cuz he/she was yakkin on their phone, not payin attention..

I get anywhere between 32 and 37. I think my car is rated 34 highway and 29 city ... I drive a lot though. A lot of it is freeway too.

I've actually seen an increase in sports cars around here (I followed a brand new Viper back home yesterday, and a new Corvette today).

From Mazda's site:

2007 Mazda 3 - EPA fuel economy estimate: 25 to 28 mpg/city, 31 to 35 mpg/highway, depending on engine.

My mom said the same thing.

So wheres the storage space, in the front?

Rayne, do you use a synthetic oil? I have also heard nothing but praise for the Lucas oil stabilizer...

The best cars that I can think of are the Honda Insight, Honda CRX HF and Geo Metro Xfi. All fuel economy specials. The Insight gets 65-70 mpg...

Yep. Nothing fancy, just Castrol's Syntec Blend.

I don't like Valvoline and I don't like Pennzoil, they both seem to sludge and get dirty prematurely. I like Royal Purple a lot, but it's expensive and I can't find it affordable anymore since I stopped working for the auto parts retailer. I did find I can order it and get it shipped, but I always wait to late to do it.

I've never tried an oil stabilizer.

I'm still trying to figure out how they change a flat back tire ..... best I can think is that panel comes off, but that would be kind of awkward trying to pull it off on the side of the road.

fuelcell technology could see improvement, now to manufacture cars that cost 20 - 30 thousand base on fuel-cell whould be the huge hurdle. it take 10 years for even a third of amaricans to drive them if it hit the market now. and in 10 years who knows how the economy is going to suck.

either way id say move closer to the city, its where the fun is anyways... those 5 mile bye 5 mile suburbs suck anyways.

Something I've noticed that is very odd to me: it seems, at least in my area anyway, when gas prices rise, people drive Faster. I know it sounds ridiculous, but I've seen it. By now, most people here know I drive a fullsize pickup truck. Being totally aware of this, I tend to do the speed limit on the highway. I do alot of instate driving for work, so I have the chance to observe driving behavior. I sit back and watch as I go down the road. I recently took my truck to the dealership, for a maintenance service visit. On the way there, I sat in the travel lane on the highway, and I was travelling at the speed limit of 65.

I got passed 35 times. Stomping the gas pedal, regardless of what you're driving, makes the gas tank empty out faster.

You'd be surprised about the cost of hydrogen fuel cells... You're also thinking about redesigning a car rather than adding a device to increase mpg.... Affordable and in the near future, hopefully....

A moped has every right to the lane as anyone else, and by slowing your fucking land yacht down, that moped driver saved you money in gas.

the front holds the coolant radiator, battery, swirl pool, window washer tank, coolant filler, and IIRC a small tank of compressed gas and good for temporary puncture repair.

the engine is a flat 3 format so its beneath the floor level its more accurate to say its more like a Volkswagen Type 3

type3explodedlowres.jpg

if 2 seats are not enough.

How about the Smart ForFour

I've seen a couple of smart cars, there's a dealership near here, but I'm usually getting over 40mpg in my mini cooper, good enough for me!
