The US is not the worst in the world when it comes to Racism. It's not even close.

Racism isn't going to just "go away" because we start thinking good thoughts about it. Social change does not happen over night... unless it happens at the point of a gun or the tip of a sword. It never seems to change for the better that way though. It does do a fine job of filling mass graves.

Real social change happens slowly. It's not good enough to try to get people to stop thinking they are better than someone else. We have to never have people start thinking like that. The best way to do that, as phee has said, is to Teach it. Educate our children.. fill thier heads with Peace and Love. Teach then that everyone is important. Everyone counts. Even the people that look and think differently than them. Teach them to respect other people.

Here's a bit of experience for everyone.. (since I'm usually quite obviously in the "breed" minority).

I have a friend who I view is one of my closest girlfriends, and before we started hanging out, she had a very VERY skewed view of my "breed".

I won't go into detail, but before we started hanging out, she said she didn't really like my breed, not because of anything you may think, just by things she read about my ethnicity. When we started hanging out more and more, she realized that my breed isn't any scarier than her breed, it's just she'd never been around my breed before. (This breed thing is hard to get used to). Now she has a great outlook on people of my breeding. Again, through EXPERIENCE and education.

She had never had the experience of another of my breed, so all she could reference was her own limited experience. You guys have to realize that a lot of people don't look outside of their own experiences, they don't even go searching. They could basically care less. Instead of their own experience, they pull from what they hear from their own reliable sources about other breeds.. i.e. their parents, and their parents may have even LESS experience (I also find it interesting how one bad experience ruins the whole pot), but they get things from THEIR parents.. see how the ignorance builds?

If you can figure out a way to inspire others to embrace education, you will accomplish WAY more than just changing the word, or taking power away from a word.

I am totally pro-education...that is what I am on...an endless search for more knowledge...I just wanna' go faster than the dharma is letting us...so I am trying to find different/quicker ways to enlighten the masses...like with humorous little jabs like 'breed' instead of 'race' and the like...

Of course I read all the posts, but what you fail to realize is that MOST of the people to whom you are trying to reach are not the people who will sit here and read this thread.. every single one. The ones you want barely read to begin with. If you want to use me as your little "breed" pony, by all means, I'll meet said people and dispel any of MY breed's stereotypes and fears.

I think that is the only way you can accomplish your goal a slight bit faster than the current rate you're going with this. It's OK to sit in a group of your own breed and say.. THIS is the issue, and how do we work on THIS issue, and talk all you want, but actions speak WAY louder than words, and affects way more people than talk. At least, that has been MY experience on the topic.

Actually I believe that it's more a replacement of words, but still doesn't diffuse the actual meanings behind them. That will only come with time, education, a willingness to change by the specific target people, and a lot of patience on the parts of the enlightened.

I don't believe I was ridiculing you here. I think I was more inclined to think that you weren't seeing the picture in it's entirety and the opposition you will get from the masses will be FAR more than the opposition you would get from people on this board.

I think they wanted you to open your eyes, because it seemed you had an finalist viewpoint on it. I find it interesting that people say they want to discuss something, but are completely closed off when another suggestion is made. If you want to discuss this stuff in person or even on here, that's great, but discussions are two way highways, with lots of interjecting streets. If you're not willing to let it go both ways, you don't have a conversation, you have a speech.

We can all sit here and listen to your speech, which I don't think any of us oppose the basic premise of your ideals, but you're not going to dispel the feelings behind people's understandings of words just by telling them THIS is what's going to happen. We are going to accomplish it by replacing a word (which I really have no problem with) with another word (I have MORE problems with).

I do not believe any of us said what you are doing is wrong, but we merely suggested that maybe the way you're going about it may not work as well as you might hope.

This is what a discussion is.. If you feel so strongly about it, you have to allow your ideals to be criticized and then you take those suggestions, and either decide to take them for their face value, reject them, feel beat down (which I certainly didn't feel I was doing), or pool that information, and change an approach.

It's all your choice.

Since Phee has English and German Ancestors, (and so do I) we come from the same 'Ancestral Grouping' ...

We are not the same Tribe...as I am of the Romani and Cherokee Tribes as well...

GFPromo...is my Cousin(we looked it up), through our Irish Ancestors...and there are ties between most N.American Tribes...due to the migration...(exclude the raft riders they came before us).

It HAS to get more complex...so it can get simple...eventually (the way I see it)...
