Goth Brooks Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 This GD planet has way too many people over 6 and a half billion. Hence why I really don't care if people intend to blow each other up. Advance into space, ensure the survival of the human species, and have at thee. As for all the warheads/biochem weapons.. shove 'em on a rocket, fire 'em at Pluto. The end. "But good sir, what if a rocket blows up? falls back into the atmosphere? falls over? springs a leak?" Advance into space, ensure the survival of the human species, and have at thee. All nuclear/bio/chem weapons do is stop humanity from venting it's animal aggressions, and stops the natural check on population growth. Less MAD, more conventional warfare/genocide please.
Raev Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 You're getting warmer. Eventually you will realize that a government is sopposed to work for the people, not the other way around. While I agree that a goverment should work for the people, I do respectfully disagree to an extent as to if it is the job of a specific country to right the wrongs of the next one. That's why I asked about the moral position of the individual vs the moral position of the governing body. As I see it, a governing bodies job IS to represent and defend it's populous. If said populous does not wish to intervene(which unfortunately happens, though it shouldn't), then the governing body should not do so. Or so is my opinion.
Rev.Reverence Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 At our peak, we had over 30,000 warheads... that was 1966. We currently have just over 10,000. Russia's peek was in 1986, they had over 40,000. Russia now claims to have about 9,000. We can't forget though, that over half of the U.S.S.R's nukes were left behind when the U.S.S.R. broke up. A good portion of them.. something like 200 have never been accounted for. The process is not fast. You can't just take them apart and use them to build something else. They are highly radioactive.. and they leak. Hell, we are still trying to destroy the stock piles of chemical and biological agents we created back then. That is another slow and dangerous process. Thanx for the info... ...I see that they are doing something... I still don't think they are doing it fast enough... I know it is a painstaking process... That just means we need more people doing it at once... so I figure.
