Um, He claimed today he was specifically talking about McCain's proposed policy's. I can go find the quote if you like.

yeah....and there isn't much of a change in McCains policies then what Bush had, and still has....I find the comment to be solid and not out of sorts.

And yeah...Biden opened his mouth...but if anything, his comments were detrimental to him, and no-one else...thats why Biden is Fizzgig.

But lets switch gears yet stay in the "I can;t beleive he said that mode...

I knew Biden's big mouth was going to hurt him.

"Make no mistake about this, Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice president of the United States of America. Lets get that straight," Biden said in Clinton's defense.

"She's easily qualified to be vice president … and quite frankly, might have been a better pick than me. But she's first rate. I mean that sincerely. She is first rate. So let's get that straight," he said.

That I agree with Gaf... he should not talk... it will cause more harm then good.

McCain's Policy's... that is what the election is about of course... McCain talks about Obama's policys as well...

Is attacking ones policys what you would consider a personal attack?

To me there is a difference between

"Your policys suck and will fail"

and

"You suck and are a failure"

and again...All Biden did was make himself look bad...he didn't make Obama look bad...he made himself look bad by saying that Hillary is more qualified then he is. It's not even that bad of a comment. It's no where near "Iraq is a Holy War" and the "god's will" comment Palin made recently.

Her comments hurt both McCain and her...not just her....Biden's comments just hurt Biden.

Just because Gov. Palin mentioned lipstick in her acceptance speech, that does not mean Senator Obama was targeting her with that comment. This was a jibe at McCain's policies & their similarity to George W Bush's failures. Let's take the rightward slant & innuendo away, shall we?

I think you are missing my point about Plausible Deniability. He choose those words because it was an insult to mcCain's pilicys AND an insult to Palin.

I think the lipstick on a pig comment caught people's attention, because Palin's lipstick comment that she made in her speech was/is still fresh in our minds. Also I think Obama's comment caught attention because the timeframe within which it was made, is not too far removed from Palin's speech. Alot of people say that it Is a swipe at Palin. I admit that was my 1st impression when I heard the comment made. I do understand the comment better now, but surely you all can see how Obama's comment could be construed as a swipe @ Palin, even if it wasn't intended as such. However, obviously it would definitely behoove anyone, in this case, Obama, to preview a speech, BEFORE it is spoken to the public....LOL D'oh!

I read what you wrote regarding "plausible deniability," yet I do not agree with you.

As to the above, the former is true (jibe @ McCain's proposed policies because they mimic those of George W). The latter is not (phrase was also intended as a personal attack on Palin).

Don't get me wrong--I think the phrase he used was low-brow, & frankly there are better ways to challenge your opponents views. Both Obama & McCain are sharp men--they do not need to stoop to using inane sayings of the lowest common denominator.

But again, this was a swipe at a political stance, not a personal attack on one of his opponents.

To believe otherwise simply because the word "lipstick" was used by both Palin & Obama is simply short-sighted, & it angers me that Republican pundits actually think so little of the voting public's intelligence that they would suggest the phrase was meant to be a personal attack.

If he had said "My opponent is like an old fish trying to re-wrap itself" or "Palin is like putting lipstick on Mcain and he is a pig..." Then yeah... that would be personal IMO.

Funny thing... Obama was on Letterman... and he said Palin was the lip stick and McCain the pig. Not exactlly.. he said IF he had meant it as a personal attack.. thats what he would have meant. Hrmmmm

Wonder how many days he is going to let this rule his conversations and keep him off topic.

The Republicans are very smart...

They have turned the election away from the issues... and made it about lipstick

I would disagree to some exant...

They turned the attention away from the issues and got Obama talking about lipstick.

The sad thing is, he fell for it.

Here's a recent quote from Joe Biden:

Mark my words. It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking.... Remember I said it standing here if you don’t remember anything else I said. Watch, we’re gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy.... As a student of history and having served with seven presidents, I guarantee you it’s gonna happen.

Now there's a great campaign slogan, "Vote for Obama and I guarantee another terrorist attack or at least an assassination attempt."
