WOBURN, Massachusetts (AP) -- A man was convicted of first-degree murder Tuesday for killing his wife and 11-year-old stepson out of anger over the time she spent with members of her church.

Jeremias bins listens to testimony; he was convicted of killing his wife and son in a jealous rage.

The jury found Jeremias Bins guilty of two counts of first-degree murder for the 2006 slayings. Superior Court Judge John Lu sentenced Bins to two consecutive life terms in prison.

Prosecutors said a bloodied Bins took a cab to the Framingham police station in May 2006, walked in and said he had just bludgeoned his wife and stepson with a hammer. He handed the couple's 5-month-old son, Phillipe, to officers and said, "I'm sorry."

Carla Souza, 37, and her elder son Caique had been found an hour earlier by police who responded to her 911 call.

Souza was an active member of the Framingham ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. About two hours before the killings, Bins called ward members and told them he did not want "you missionaries" at his home any more.

Some church members told police they knew Bins did not support his wife's involvement but they were stunned by the killings. The couple had met through the church when Bins, a native of Brazil, started taking English classes there. Souza, also from Brazil, helped teach the classes.

Bins occasionally attended church services with his wife but he did not become a member

HARRIMAN, Tenn. – Ken Mink, a 73-year-old full-time student, scored two points Monday night in Roane State Community College's 93-42 victory over King College's junior varsity. Mink entered the game with about 16 minutes left in the second half and attempted one shot in about three minutes. Seven minutes later, he went back in the game, was fouled and made two free throws.

"I found myself on the free-throw line 52 years after my last college game," Mink said. "I said, 'Just relax and shoot it like you know how to all day long.' I just floated the shots in there. I'm in the books now. I can relax a little bit."

Mink, of Knoxville, last played college basketball 52 years ago at Lees College in Jackson, Ky. After someone soaped the basketball coach's office, he lost his spot on the team and was expelled. Mink still says he didn't do it.

Last year, after shooting baskets at a neighbor's house, he wrote to several area colleges, and Roane State coach Randy Nesbit agreed to give him a chance. Mink has practiced regularly with the team since school began in August.

I'm thinking I'm going to be moving to AZ, soon! Can't wait! I friggin' love it here! The heat doesn't bother me at all and the best part? NO SNOW!!! (S.N.O.W. - Shit  No One Wants)   Been staying in Bullhead City where the kids and grandkids live. Next, we're going to the wife's cousin's which is a ways North of Kingman, in the middle of nowhere, where we actually plan to move.   I really like Bullhead. It's a nice little town. Not overcrowded like Colorado Springs has become, at all. Very light traffic, reasonable prices on everything, low taxes, etc. The river offers a lot to do, with a lot of beaches and campgrounds all around it.   But yeah even though we've been over 110º-115º F just about every day,  I can handle it!  What I can't handle anymore, is snow and being cold. Just tired of it. Give me the desert over a blizzard any day!

Nope, we wasn't doing anything. I didn't want to go by myself.  I ended up doing karaoke here. It would of been a perfect day to go, though.
