I like the ideas for this area. I think one of these colors might look nice:

At least someone posted some legit ideas lol. Thanks Bean, I have painted the wood around the door semi gloss white, which looks much better with the paint, and as for the door, that will likely either be cleaned up to see how it looks (its very dirty) or buy a new door (which I favor) which is beige in color and has more glass in the center of it. I was looking at some models at Lowe's the other day. The drawing in which you saw is going to be the same color as around the door because the room is attached to that foyer. But for the inside of the office, I am thinking a nice deep red and a polished, stained wooden shelf over the base of the opening in the wall. I like the first color you mentioned for the lower floor as I think it would help illuminate in a darker area.

Secret passageways.

With any home of mine, secret passageways are a must! You never know, right?

I think with any secret passages around here, they would be underground tunnels running from the lower floor into the back yard lol. Stripper pole would be interesting, but it would only come in handy for when chics came over and that doesn't happen often enough.

I like the ideas for this area. I think one of these colors might look nice:

a slightly lighter version of this:

or a slightly darker version of this:

I like the cutout. You could do a bright color on one wall in here and then do a lighter, neutral (but complimentary color on the other walls)

Accent wall:

The other walls in the room:

I like the paint. The door looks out of place though. A color similar to the wood on the staircase would look nice I think. Or, if you sponged another color over the color you did on the wall, it might blend more and the door wouldn't stand out as much:

or

I was going to suggest a sponge texture. ;)

I really like what you're doing with the one room, making it into your office and taking out a part of the wall so that you have a window into the other room. Opens up the house quite a bit, and it's cool that you have both the time and skill to pull it off.

House is coming along nicely, can't wait for this summer's barbeque!

Thanks, I can't wait either. When the warm weather returns, my mom is going to help put the womanly touch on the outside with landscaping. I will be installing a stream to pond scene along the front of the house. My mom suggested a bonsai tree closer to the far end of the garage. There will be small designer trees along the brick stairs in the front.

Parties there should rock once I get around to building a lower deck from the upper with a gazebo and a hot tub in the middle.

Finally! I finished the foyer tile floor. Turned out much better than I thought. Its showing wet from a fresh mop in these photos. But it looks very sturdy and much nicer than that damn brown shag carpeting.

Very cool - I really like your idea for the office.

I really like the tile you did too!

Thanks, going to lay low on the improvements until I get more money though. With the way work has slowed down, I have to pay more attention to the bills now and a $133 heating bill :(

Well, overall I think the paint color looks good. After finishing the paint I started to wonder if the stained trim really did look better than the white. But I have decided to continue going on with the white trim and see how it looks.

Well, at least I can finish posting about the foyer and archway as they are now finished. Also the dark red paint in the office is the color that I will use once I get the electrical for the lantern lighting finished. Closet was also inverted from the office to now be in the foyer.

Thanks, I am adding that 'candlelight glaze' to it once its all painted. It should look really quiet and relaxed in there once the lighting is done. I guess its supposed to enhance the glow the low lighting, like the lanterns I want in there, produces.
