umm, tacohitts, who is 'they'?

i was pondering this whole race-based browser today, and it occurred to me that it might result in a skewed view of current events, internet resources, etc for those who use the product without being fully aware of its function. that could be difficult/awkward/otherwise not good.

Something I would never use.

I hate stuff like this, I dont watch BET, read Jet/Essence, Not focused on wearing urban clothes or listening to pointless rap. Why? Its just geared towards black people as if its the only thing we should use, like segregated tv, magazines, clothes and so and so forth.

I dont need books, channels, clothes or music to use because Im black, I just need basic same old same old crap because I need it.

Yeah, This is just another way to make money and target a specific group of people.

Honestly its sad.

I understand what they are trying to do but make it for everyone. Im pretty sure people other than blacks would like a new web browser to use.

Retarded Crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actualy I have heard speach after speach from people that claim blacks cannot be racist. They always say that racism is the discrimination of people of color. Quotes that I have compiled over the years:

Namely, I defined racism as ''this practice of demeaning and denying based on the darkness of skin.'' -from some speaker at a rally in Milwaukee

but wait he and his buddies had more...

"First, my take on the ''blacks can't be racist'' argument: Unassailable logic, unfortunate rhetoric.

People who make that argument reason as follows: Yes, blacks can be prejudiced or bigoted, but not ''racist'' because racism involves systemic oppression -- the wielding of power. As blacks neither wield power nor control the system, the reasoning goes, it's beyond their ability to be racist."

This is taken from an article in a Madison paper:

According to many black scholars and activists, I can be a racist but my next-door neighbors cannot. I am white. My neighbors are black. "Black people can't be racist," explained Spike Lee. Harry Allen of the rap group Public Enemy made a similar point when accused of racism against whites and Jews. "It's impossible," he said. "Only white people can be racist, and I am not white."

Anyways, this web thing seems, at least to me, like a tame, electronic version of the mafia. Well, this browser combined with other things. I am not saying that someone can't be proud of who they are. But to me how is keeping yourself apart from other cultures a good thing? Minorities always talk about the "white man" being proud of their heritage as a bad thing. Somehow, being proud of who you are when you are white is racist, but its not racist if you are considered a minority. Is this not a horrible double standard? Groups like the NAACP, the Nation of Islam, the Congressional Black Caucus always put out stats and figures that seek to infurate their people. Instead of trying to fix things they seek to drive the wedge further between us. They pull the race card any second they get the chance. These groups, again in my opinion, are actually keeping racism alive by seeking it out and sometimes fabricating it and then blowing things WAY out of proportion. And then you have people like me, skinheads. Never, EVER have the white power and racist groups used that term to describe themselves. The skinhead movement was actually started by both whites and blacks in England. None of their ideals or clothing styles were based on anything having to do with race, it was all about social classes and norms. I would also like to point out that after a while the blacks actually started to push the whites away which, I would know better if I was there, I would consider a form of racism. And here we are today, where the mere mention of the word "skinhead" send people into fits. They start talking about Hitler and the KKK. Yet no one, absolutely no one has been able to explain to me how the associated skinheads with racism.

And that's a racist comment right there.

I, personally, don't think I'd go so far as to think that this browser is a racist tool. I do, however, think that it is being used to market unnecessary exclusion and insularity. As Msterbeau stated, all those resources are there and available without the creation of a tool specifically for black people. And I think a big part of the problem with 'race relations' is that insularity. I can't tell you how many different stories I've read in the past year indicating that in the heavy majority of instances, groups tend to intentionally segregate themselves based on race. Do we really need more of that? Do we want the internet, a tool in its way as profoundly equalizing as the rifle, to be broken down into racial demographics and enclaves?

i guess i am fortunate enough to live in a little multicultural social island. i work with a wide variety of people - arabic, chaldean, asian, african american, italian, russian, serbian, indian, pakistani, african, argentinian, you name it. i am aware that people have very different experiences and opinions based on race and religion, but to me those traits seem no more or less important than local culture, family, etc.

it's absolutely foreign to me to think of racism as being a "white-only" trait. seems like a silly way to define the word. i try to keep up with culture and current events, but maybe i'm still missing some major pieces.

NICE RANT...Spike Lee & his predecessors (& ALL of their followers) NEED to listen to Bob Marley...& pull their heads out of their hypocritical ass holes.

I QUOTE:

On the question of racial discrimination, the Addis Ababa Conference taught, to those who will learn, this further lesson: That until the philosophy which holds one race superior and another inferior is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned: That until there are no longer first-class and second class citizens of any nation; That until the color of a man's skin is of no more significance than the color of his eyes; That until the basic human rights are equally guaranteed to all without regard to race; That until that day, the dream of lasting peace and world citizenship and the rule of international morality will remain but a fleeting illusion, to be pursued but never attained; And until the ignoble and unhappy regimes that hold our brothers in Angola, in Mozambique and in South Africa in subhuman bondage have been toppled and destroyed; Until bigotry and prejudice and malicious and inhuman self-interest have been replaced by understanding and tolerance and good-will; Until all Africans stand and speak as free beings, equal in the eyes of all men, as they are in the eyes of Heaven; Until that day, the African continent will not know peace. We Africans will fight, if necessary, and we know that we shall win, as we are confident in the victory of good over evil.

Yeah sorry I had a class before that and everyone in the class started going off on skinheads. Not the "nazi skinheads" but all of them. All this shit about the false face of hope to justify the beatings and killing that we think will advance our race. So...I exploded. No swearing, no talking down, nothing bad I was just yelling really loudly to get my point through their thick skulls into the grey mass between their ears. If skinheads are racist because of the actions of a few that aren't really part of the group then every single organisation out there should be considered racist, sexist...etc.

Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!

Oh well, the Bob Marley comment was very helpful because I remembered that I have a few of his CD's and can now start to calm down.

Well, I am a S.H.A.R.P. by definition but since Wisconsin doesn't have a local chapter I am not considered a member. I would make my own patches but that would be stupid because you have to prove yourself before they throw a patch on you...they gotta make sure that you aren't gonna give them a bad name
