The coolest people I know are the ones who don't label themselves, and don't pay attention to what others label them. They just do their thing.

I don't think I have ever dated any women who were trying to be badass myself. Maybe fiesty because well, it seems that alot of redheads end up being that way even if they dyed it! heh I tend to like the quiet nerdy types or go for older women.

I usually attributed bad boys to the jock types because of their status and them having to continually prove themselves to others. I usually sat in the shadows talking to their women though while they were flexing their muscles.

i think there's a few reasons (typically) - 1) they're "dangerous"/unpredictable, 2) they act the way men "should" (confident/cocky, charismatic, basically, not a pushover/wuss), and 3) the romantic notion that, even though these men are "bad boys", they feel that they'll be the one woman who finally changes him, "reels him in".

well...then I'm confused...because you said that anyone that IS badass doesn't go around and tell everyone they ARE badass....and yet...alot of Marines...who most of them are TRAINED to be badass....are notorious for going around and telling everyone that they ARE badass....

I mean Marines aren't exactly known for their mature nature.... and showing off... well that is a little different, any performer shows off, clowns, actors, musicians... Marines are soldiers and they always are.

Showing off ones skills, and having to prove how "bad" you are seem to be two different things IMO.

It's not just good girls that like "bad boys". It's ALL girls. And by "girls" I mean "females".

Why is it?

It's easy. Women are attracted to a lot of basic elements. "Bad boys" happen to embody a lot of those elements.

Is it possible that criminals or pieces of shit happen to also embody some of those elements? Sure. That's exactly why there's some confusion in this thread.

Some things women are attracted to:

1.) Fun/Exciting to be around.

2.) Confident is sexy.

3.) Persona of somebody that can be a protector/provider.

4.) Image of being a strong person. (Maybe physically, but mostly mentally & emotionally.)

5.) Image of not being needy. (They don't beg for a girls company so to a girl it appears that being with them is a prize won.)

6.) Attractive to others.

Your common bad boy will be most if not all of these things.
