I don't do dumb shit for love.....

I have always had to much respect for Meself to degrade myself for love.

I never thought I was doing "dumb stuff" either...until her head snapped back like a Pez Dispenser From Hell and her vile, true slithering self came out squealing...much like the "young alien" in "Alien!":shock::help:

Sorry to laugh, but that was a great description.

That's ok. I'm happy to share in your laughter. I used my sense of humor to "weather the storm" during those trying times. That which did not kill me just made my debt grow to epic proportions and made my spirit that much more resilient and funnier. I can even find the sliver of humor in a penile amputation now.

I gave up the closest friends I've ever had but only to ask the same in return.. very selfish of me I know.

Fortunately for me, I retained all my "true friends" and actually gained a few from her "camp" that realized I was a much better human being. Yup, she sucked so bad her family apologized to me.

But what is the difference between love and thinking it is love?

Are they not the same?

How can one tell if they are truely in love or just feeling in love?

Or do they feel the same?

I see a germ for another thread here.

Uh, I just read this last night and figured I'd share. Well, first of all this man said he and his wife didn't love each other anymore. They had three children, and the man wanted a suggestion on what to do...

"Love her," I replied.

"I told you, the feeling just isn't there anymore."

"Love her."

"You don't understand. the feeling of love just isn't there."

"Then love her. If the feeling isn't there, that's a good reason to love her."

"But how do you love when you don't love?"

"My friend, love is a verb. Love--the feeling--is a fruit of love, the verb. So love her. Serve her. Sacrifice. Listen to her. Empathize. Appreciate. Affirm her. Are you willing to do that?"

In progressive societies love is a verb. Some people make it a feeling. They're driven by feelings.

Haha. =] Absolutely and positively agreed. After a while you start to wonder why you ended up in such situations.

Dumbest thing I've done for love? Allow it to happen in the first place lol.

"Love" makes people do stupid things, and their significant other tends to dominate their life... at least in the beginning. The things I put off and out of mind for a man.... :X As I've said before, in my experience relationships will only bring you down. Since being single I've cut down on smoking, improved my self esteem, improved my grades, and become more independent.

Alright I'll be serious now. The dumbest thing I've done for love is try to prove myself that I love someone when they keep raising the expectations higher and ended up using me. An example would be putting myself late on rent so that my ex could buy Christmas presents. But I didn't give her an extream ammount of money and just gave her a test to see if she was going to appreciate what I did for her. But no, she through it in my face because I didn't give her more and started treating me worse. I know now not to give a girlfriend money when she puts Christmas presents or any material possession before your happiness. She didn't have a job and didn't have money, no matter how hard I tried to explain to her that its okay if you don't have a job or income and you can't get Christmas presents she ended up getting mad. So she got mad and basically broke up with me because I didn't have the money to fix her problems. She basically said, without saying, Christmas presents were more important to her than me. Pretty shallow huh?

Thanks but...I wasn't laughing. I ruined a beard trimmer on the first try so I had to buy a big hair clipper set. The next step requires at least three disposable razors...I went through four last time. Now I have given up. If the ladies want a piece fine...but if rug burn is not your thing then positions are limited. Either that or I keep my shirt on, or use alot of lubrication which I hate because I feel like a wet otter that is extremely flammable.

honestly, that's more likely a symptom of having an improper fit in a significant other. i mean, fi you had to get rid of them in order to "cut down on smoking, improved my self esteem, improved my grades, and become more independent.", then they obviously weren't a very caring, nurturing, supportive mate.

it's sad, just how often that happens, though...

im starting to realize you dont do dumb things for love. you do things you think will benefit the relationship and improve it. if it works out then it wasnt really all that dumb and if your left alone with only heartache then it probably wasnt really love to begin with

I'm going to disagree with this. Just because it doesn't work out, doesn't mean two people weren't in love. People change, shit happens.. etc...

Posted

i guess i shouldve been more specific. if your the only one putting in the "dumb things" to try and make the relationship work or make them happy while the other person is telling you they love you but not willing to put in anything of their own into making it work or helping you then they probably dont really love you to begin with
