There are a lot of religions that "kick you out"

Excommunication does not mean you are kicked out...it is more like being grounded.

It is like purgatory on Earth....or some such...I'm gonna' go look this up for you (& ME).

Lutherans, Episcopalians, The Church of England, the Amish and Mennonites and a few others.

I have a problem with a system that punishes (maybe not the girl) but the girls family and the concept.

Cause and affect are a bitch. I wonder what life would be like without consequences.

I must have missed the part of the Bible that said abortion is illegal

I must have missed the part of the Bible that said abortion is illegal

"I the Lord thy GOD hath given unto thee, Man, every seed bearing fruit; for these to you shall be as meat."

(read "meat" as "sustenance")

There are herbs (mushrooms & fungus as well) that will induce abortions...

...including a certain herb (now extinct) that grew in the Mediterranean...

The word sustenance means that which sustains us...

When there are TO MANY peoples in a Tribe...not having more babies...means the Tribe will be sustained.

Abortion is not illegal according to the TORA (as far as I see).

There is certainly nothing about it in the NEW TESTAMENT.

Honestly, I would think you would be happy with this outcome. It has an outside chance of turning the Mother and the doctors away from the Church. They may even turn their backs on God.

Oh I'm glad, because maybe some reading the story will realize just exactly how stupid this is on top of the mother/doctors doing so.

So how exactly does one go about getting excommunicated, I mean officially? Not like it really matters but it would just be cool to say.
