TygerLili Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Education is great, but it's not nearly as important as ambition and life experience. I was very much raised to believe that if you didn't go to college you'd never amount to anything. Both of my parents went to college, as did three out of my four grandparents. All of my high school friends started college immediately after graduating. So I started college right after I graduated because that was just what was expected of me. It wasn't until I was in college that I realized some of the most interesting people there were the ones who were going back to school after having lived in the "real world" for 10, 15, 20 years. Now I have friends in pretty much all stages of the education process, from barely having graduated high school to working on a second masters' degree. Some of the most intellegent people I know just were happier out working than in school. And some of the most ignortant people I know have multiple degrees. As for me, I got my bacholor's at 22, and I haven't used it since.
gothicmom Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 Bishop has had several years of college. Changing degrees and whatnot. When he decided on programing software he enrolled at Baker. After his first 2 computer language courses he had to teach it to himself because the instructors didn't know jack! They were following manuals! So he started buying the books and poured into them to learn what he wanted to know. That was about 5 years ago. Now he's making very good money working for a very prestigious software company.
