U.S. joins call for emergency action

We all knew it was going to happen sooner or later and today the USA joined European nations in calling for Iran to be referred to by the Security Council over its nuclear ambitions. Iran broke U.N. seals on its nuclear enrichment facility earlier this month and insisted it wants to develop a legal, civilian nuclear power program. Several Western countries fear Tehran is intent on developing a nuclear bomb.

No surprises there. Iran has been pushing the world in general for a long time and thier recent actions, along with statements made by thier "president", are not making them any friends. They have taken a 180 degree turn since that person was voted in... almost all of the Democratic reforms that iran had made in thelast 10 years were undone within his first week in office.

Iran has been begging for war lately, from Israel for one, and if the allegations are true (I believe they are) that Iran was sending people to Iraq to cause trouble then we may have Iran-Iraq 2 electric boogaloo once the Iraq government gets on it's own feet (if it ever does).

no, plus we get most of our oil form the saudi's and other places outside the middle east.....countries that we are on good terms with for the most part. and the saudi's love Bush and vice versa, something I am not comfortable with. Opec sets oil prices anyway, not the U.S.

This of course will lead people to ask "what are they hiding?" and then the next logical question will be "what if we don't do anything? they may be building a nuke to start WW3, we can't sit back and do nothing" which could be the catalyst for the next war.

Hopefully not. But I can see it happening within 5 years. Iran is begging for trouble and they have a history of starting conflicts in the region.

I am not saying a war with Iran would be good, it won't. I would not support it. But I am saying that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is asking for trouble.....and with Bush in the white house, he may get it.

yep, even Saddam did that when Iraq was getting it's ass kicked....just toss a few bombs at Israel seems to be the last act of desperation for middle eastern tyrants. Didn't syria even lob a missle into Israel a couple years ago?

Thats beccause they got all of Iraq's fighter planes during the first gulf war. The planes that they already had were surpluss planes that the USSR and the US sold them. They have pretty good air power, we still have a big edge though. As for ground forces.. we have the edge there too. We could take Iran if we had too, but we would loose far more than 2200 lives.

Yeah just ask Saddam about the security council all agreeing on something about him..............

But I believe Afghanistan was the first step as Iraq was the next step to change the face of the middle east and now we are just setting up the next step and it seems Iran has volunteered to be the next contestant on "Stand up and get your ASS Handed to you By the USA" .....This good ole boy we have in office and his pack of jackels he has working for him are freakin warmongers(WARPIGS). I am torn on this issue cause i have a little good ole boy in me that says "Let's not take this shit from any of these fucks and show them what it is like to have the US rain some shit down on them" and the other hand how arrogant we are to even think like that.
