This is an interesting thread. First off, I would like to point out that the more religious a muslim tends to be, the poorer they are (or vise versa). There is a strong correlation there. The poor ones also blame the west for their poorneess because if not for the west, then somehow they would be rich overlords or somthing. SO since they are not rich, it is our fault for being rich and tempting them to give up being muslim and do all the fun stuff they are not allowed to do... insert vicious cycle here.

secont point- on to the conflict/war:

I just hope the Muslims dont push the west into getting rid of them... Sure, we as the west are much more progressive than when we colonized north america and killed off most of the indians.... but our opinions could change from "corrective or punitave actions into exterminations". If the trade center had been full, or had fallen sideways onto other buildings rather than imploding.. or if flight 93 had smashed into the white house... things could have been way different.

a couple other points I would like to make:

1. Iraq would be a good staging base for a war in Iran.

2. Have any of you met a Carthaginian? Who cries for Carthage? Do we miss their culture and language any more than we miss the Kurgans or Tasmanians?

I think this could end up going really bad... if things are escaalted any more than they already are.

....you see...religion and its confines and "punishments" to infidels are merely subject to opinion...to belief....

In other words...if I no longer believe in the religion itself, how could I possibly agree in its punishments?

I still believe in much of the Qu'ran...but I also believe that there is more...much more...that every book is a piece of the overall story and moral and that organized religion is somewhat of an oxymoron...you cannot organize individual beliefs of people...it is impossible and when attempted; disasterous

And, the Muslims don't condemn the "funner" things because they are tempting...they dislike them because according to their book, they are WRONG

hmmmm........obviously there is a bit of truth to a statement like this, but its also a blanket statement that does not really reflect the averages. All I can say on a personal basis is that the najority of the people that i've known (for many years in many cities) who are avid beleivers are also middle class and higher on the income scale. And yes I've seen death bed scenarios up close and personal as well, quite a few since I was a teenager. I'd say only about half go to their graves seeking God at zero hour. And in most of these cases....they had always beleived, yet felt distanced from him during their active lives. Death in and of itself does not seem to "create" beleif or faith.

Who said you get a choice? Sharia has one punsihment for those who renounce the Muslim faith... Death. If you live in a Muslim country that is subject to Sharia and your renounce the Muslim faith.. you are put to death. They don't ask you if you agree with the sentance.
