May 1st shut down of major cities

I really see both sides of the issue.  I know illegal immigrants, quite a few actually, and I see them just trying to work hard (harder than most Americans I know) to make a better life for them and their family.  I have no idea what it is like to be born in a country so poor and horrible that I would risk my life to get out of.

I don't know what it's like either, but there is only so much land available, not everyone living in 3rd world countries can fit in the U.S., Canada and Europe. I would worry more about why their governments repress them more than worrying about letting ours accept everyone.

When I hear people say that they're taking jobs away from Americans I have to laugh.  They are doing the jobs that most Americans wouldn't be caught dead doing.

I'm not sure that's true, before the influx of illegals in the 70's, who was doing these jobs? Americans I assume. Furthermore, many Americans wouldn't do those jobs at THAT payrate. If companies paid a fair and legal wage, maybe more Americans would do those jobs.

Prices on everything we buy will also be going up when companies have to start paying American wages.

Again, I am not sure if that's true. It would hurt revenue, but I'd have to see more studies before I believe farmers are really going to start charging $5 per apple sold.

One other thing.........THEY ARE paying taxes.  Every single one of my employees have a social security card (that the government accepts) and gets a paycheck with state, federal and social security taxes taken out.  They are paying into a Social Security fund that they will never take money out of.

I haven't seen any statistics on how much money illegals pay into Social Security and what effect it will have when they stop..................

Well here are some statistics

http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=49965

from the Los Angeles Times:

40 percent of all workers are working for cash and not paying taxes. Why would they want to be legal and pay taxes? They would be able to start bringing the rest of their families to the USA.

75 percent of people on L.A.'s most-wanted list are illegal aliens.

Over two-thirds of all births are to illegal alien Mexicans on Medi-Cal whose births were paid for by the taxpayers.

Nearly 25 percent of all inmates in California detention centers are here illegally.

Over 300,000 illegals are living in garages.

The FBI reports half of all gang members in Los Angeles are most likely illegals from south of the border.

Nearly 60 percent of all occupants of HUD properties are illegal.

Of the 10 million people in Los Angeles County, 5.1 million speak English and 3.9 million speak Spanish.

21 radio stations in Los Angeles are Spanish speaking.

More statistics:

Less than 2 percent of illegals are picking crops but 29 percent are on welfare.

Over 70 percent of the U.S. annual population growth (over 90 percent of California, Florida and New York) are from immigration.

29 percent of inmates in the federal prisons are illegal aliens.

The lifetime fiscal impact (taxes minus services used) for the average adult Mexican immigrant is a negative.

They also send between about $15 billion back to Mexico to assist their families and prop up the corrupt Mexican government that keeps most of its citizens in poverty. How about a revolt in their own country!

A new figure from yesterday: It cost Los Angeles $276 million in welfare costs for 100,000 children of illegal aliens.

They cant. They are using someone elses Soc. or fake numbers. The moneys collected from them do go into the pool but not "tied" to anyone or to someone else. I'm not sure the exact process, but you can get fake Soc. numbers that will work for employment purposes. It's still illegal and if you wre a citizen, it's a felony. Ofcourse, the illegal immagrants get a pass.
