To all those who just quit smoking

Klaus said his lungs are like they were when he was a teen again now.  Jogging seems to have helped because he got a chest xray and all the black stuff is gone.

I have been rollerblading my ass off.....

I would like to start jogging.

Jogging has always given me cramps in the gut though. It is very painful, and I'm not sure what to do to make it stop?

There are a few yoga postures that get rid of that.

Amazingly, my chest x-rays show that they're totally clear, despite smoking on and off since I was 13.

I don't run unless I'm being chased with a weapon. In a situation like that, I'll even run (and have) in heels. That being said, I'm not running.

48 hours and 42 minutes later......

I feel ok.

Sad. Like I lost a friend.

They say this is common.

Klaus doc said rigerous excersize where your breathing hard and your blood is pumping for 30 min a day will get that crap out of your lungs but it takes years. And, cough it up and spit it out don't try to be a lady and not spit.

Your lucky Bren, my mans chest xray was so bad right before he quit they thought he would develop lung cancer in a few years. Thats what made him really want to quit. Coarse I suppose they say that to scare you into quiting but I saw the xray and his lungs were all dark looking in areas.

So just think, by quiting now you could potentially have the lungs of a teenager again.....or someone in their 20's who never smoked......?

There is a yoga excersize I do to heal my torn diaphram and it works wonders (I get cramps when I do situps if I don't do it for awhile, too)

It was called the nauli and you stand with your hands on your knees relaxed. Feet about 1 foot apart toes facing forward comfortably. Exhale all the air out of your lungs and squeeze your muscles all the way back so you look so skinny it is wierd looking. Now pump. Pump your muscles in and out so your tummy is raising and squeezing.....NO AIR. As long as you can hold your breath.

Here is a good site, all the abdominal excersizes help me. I get craps easy to and like I said, have a tear from singing so these really help me allot.

I've been completely smoke-free for 6 days now. No real cravings. I just want to know when I'll start to feel better......

I'm on day 13. JUST starting to feel back to myself.

I am still having cravings, but not nearly as often and or as intense.

I just try to ignore it.....Been doing A LOT of Yoga, and Rollerblading.

DON'T forget how hard it was those 1st few days.....One smoke will put you back there.... :doh

Everybody knows that "Count Chocula" is the cereal of choice for goths.  It's black, turns your milk black, and it has a vampire on the box.  How can it get more goth than that?

There's always the Spook Anti-Smoking Program.  Everytime you light up I crack the cigarette out of your mouth with my bullwhip.

A)  It get's rid of the cigarette

2)  It may scare you into not lighting up again

Finally)  There's always the chance that I might miss

(If the cancer doesn't kill you, I will.  :laughing )

actually, this spook method would probably work wonders for me. i would be terrifyed to light up for fear of being brutalized! I need to find someone that will promise to do that for me.

the thing that scares me about quitting is not feeling well. i cant hack that. cant afford to feel sick. then again, i would rather feel sick for awhile then carry around an oxygen tank when i am like 50! its that dependency issue.

I've been 15 days without a cig. No cravings. However, I've also stopped eating past 7:00pm. I don't want to pack on the pounds, so I'm doing this as well. So far, so good. Everything still fits. I just hope that I can maintain......

how long has it been since you last smoked? Does anyone in your household smoke?

Posted

It's been 22 days now, and no one in my house smokes. Most of my friends do, though.

I decided that I was pissed off enough to smoke one cig. I smoked half instead, nearly passing out AND vomiting on my boss' mother-in-law.

So yeah. I think I'm really done.

Yay! Brendas lungs will be ok!!!

This is just so good for us too see, someone is making it on the quiting issue!

Thanks for sharing and I truely mean it.
