holliwood66 Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Ok, as I am lame and waaaay to tired to go out this evening I will post a bit: I mostly eat fish and chicken...the eggs we use are from Zhuk's parents home and are they ever good*The ones from the little Bantum hens are blue-green with the orange yolks - so cute* Sometimes I eat duck eggs from them as well. For thanksgiving I buy open-pen organic heirloom turkey *yummm..they are $3-4 a pound but so worth it...* They are usually available from small specialty butchers in Ann Arbor and other areas or online. I like supporting the small farms and any increase in biodiversity is a good thing~ A few years ago Zhuk's family slaughtered a cow they raised...and she was tasty as well - I didn't feel bad about eating her as she had the worst personality ever...an evil, evil cow. *lol* I don't think eating organic will make me live longer or healthier but less chemicals is sound thinking. I figure everything in moderation as any good epicurean should =)
JaneDead Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Well, Dark, have you ever heard a doctor tell someone to cut back on vegetables and fruit? Meat can cause health problems such as high cholesteral. Of course there are other problems though. Everyone I've ever talked to who's tried some level of vegetarianism says they feel healthier. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> i sure have. i am not a "vegetarian" but i lean that way. i eat some meat but over all it makes me feel sort of sick after. i pretty much have the same views as you on it paul.
JaneDead Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 I don't think eating organic will make me live longer or healthier but less chemicals is sound thinking. I figure everything in moderation as any good epicurean should =) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> i always eat organic too. if i eat meat i don't buy just *any* meat. i get cage free, hormone free, etc etc... for eggs, steaks, chicken.... i pretty much hate chicken though (taste wise, and ususally eat turkey over chicken) and i like steak and ribs but that is about it as far as "meat" goes. no fish. no pork/pig. no hamburger. i like lunch meat though lunch meat is bad for you. but even then i only eat roast beef or corned beef.
JaneDead Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 no thanks. i already have plenty of them over here.
