Anti-smoking law in Michigan?

Since you want to equate smoking with these other cancer causing agents i'll choose to follow your logic. Remember these are your analogies so...

It is illegal to operate in a public park. Therefore, again following your logic, it should be illegal to smoke in a public park.

Don't you see, your own argument is in favor of banning smoking in public places, you just don't want to.

umm...they have incinerators in public parks...their called grills...

no...I think we been saying that a level of advertising or something of the sort that shows proper RESPECT and RESPONSIBILITY for smoking in public needs to be proceeded with BEFORE you straight out take away rights.

I like this idea, hell lets apply it to everything! Raping monkeys on public benches is now legal everyone, we're just gonna put up a billboard somewhere asking people not to do it..

This could work!

Just like SHS annoys non smokers, people with S.H.B.O.(second hand body odor) annoys me as well,LOL!!

Now back on topic,I have no problem keeping my smoking away from non smokers, just don't complain when you are in a smoke filled bar,if I am at someone's house where I can't smoke inside, big deal,I have respect for that.

no, my friend, that's a grill. An incinerator is much larger and used for a completely different purpose. The one I'm referring to is the same as the one he was referring to as well. Arguing semantics only weakens your point.

Yes... businesses should be allowed to determine their own smoking policies

I am not even getting into this fucked up debate.....

exactly! buisnesses. And I wouldn't presume to tell anyone what they can and cannot do in their own homes either. Hell if the aformentioned monkey raping appeals to you, by all means have at it in the privacy of your own home. It's Public areas such as parks that I shouldn't be forced to deal with your addiction, just because you can't go a few hours without a fix.

I have an addiction to burning napalm, but they won't let me do it in a public park. Are my rights being supressed? I try not to let it get on anyone, so I should be cool to just light up right?

no..because it works on the same method...and I assure you...breathing the fumes in from burning charcoal is WAY worse then someone lighting a smoke. AND I will go further and state that there is a good number of people that burn their trash from their picnic in the grill...styrafoam..plastic...if you can prove that me lighting up in a public park is MORE dangerous then that...I'll give up smoking for life.

way to take 1 line out of a post

What THEY, are speaking of taking away is the 'Right to smoke in PUBLIC"...not just the Parks...Hel...anywhere there is a 'Smoking Booth' or "Smoking Area" I'll go. I'm certainly more than happy to walk as far away from people who think a cigarette outside is going to destroy their lungs...Ya'll think Second Hand Smoke KILLS...but have no proof...we all KNOW Carbon monoxide poisoning KILLS...BAN CARS.

I disagree with the Law that they are proposing yes....

But I agree with the parts that do not include homes, and business....

when has banning something ever work?

Marijuana is illegal...and MOST, if not ALL, of my clientele smoke pot, as well as quite a few of my friends....and while I don't begrudge them their "addiction", they know that I only smoke on rare occasions and with certian ppl. None, so far, have taken offense to my CHOICE.

so..instead of banning it...why not at lest TRY the advertising program?

If it doesn't work...your no worse for wear, right?

But if you don't try...you'll never know...

Secondhand smoke exposure causes disease and premature death in children and adults who do not smoke. Secondhand smoke contains hundreds of chemicals known to be toxic or carcinogenic, including formaldehyde, benzene, vinyl chloride, arsenic ammonia and hydrogen cyanide.3

#

Secondhand smoke causes approximately 3,400 lung cancer deaths and 22,700-69,600 heart disease deaths in adult nonsmokers in the United States each year.4

I still can't dig not being able to not walk down the street and have a smoke...

{yes, because I don't want to wait to be home}{yes, addiction is a bitch}{yes, I will have to be far more a hermit than I am already}{yes, because of a nervous disorder I can not help but to feel paranoid in public}{yes, that is why I do not attempt to drive cars; which is why I'ld be WALKING(everywhere all the time)DOWN THE STREET}{yes, that makes me want a cig}{yes, that is weak of me}{yes, Humans ALL have weaknesses}{yes, my "pursuit of happiness" will be infringed upon}{yes, I am done for now}

I think the AMA along with all the sources cited in the second hand smoking article may be just a bit more credible than something called, "The Hitman Chronicle"

You want a website saying heroin is good for you I'll make it, it just doesn't make it so.
