Oh...Abinthe, rocks, two sugar cubes and a gummy bear.

Sweet?

Posted

It sounds like it. I've never had it.

Does it have a name?

Posted

Ummm...nope. I combine the Bohemian ritual (for preparing absinthe) with the French ritual and also add a little gummy bear to the fleche spoon, when I'm melting the sugarcubes over the drink...

I should order another bottle, damn?

Posted

Why not?

Posted

Yeah...

How much?

Posted

well, with shipping for a nice litre bottle, about $75 but you can get two bottles for about $100 or 3 for about $130. Not bad when you factor they are not only shipping you glass from europe but also getting you real absinthe, shipped to your door, in the United states. And Absinthe is expensive, anyway-and it doesn't take much of it, either...

How's that for a hobby?

Posted

Amazing.

Good stuff, huh?

Posted

Wow

Did you know that Headwreck is a fan of the stuff?

Posted

Yes, and I heard that it can make you hallucinate.

Is that true?

If you just have like one or two cocktails, no. It just gives you a nice euphoric sort of buzz-kind of like sake but a bit cooler. Now if you have like 4 or 5 cocktails, then it really will make you crazy, it's looks like you're having REMs while you're eyes are open. I woke up in my underwear on the floor of my veranda the last time I drank that much of it, when I had some friends over.

where the hell were my pants?

Posted

I can't drink more than 3 cocktails as a rule. That much will get me drunk. If I had one of those, I would probably only be able to have one. I'm not into humiliation.

With one, you'd deffinately have a buzz. Beyond the Thujan from wormwood, it's also (classically) 68% alcohol. Although it could be anywhere between 55% to 86%...but it's not really the alcohol so much as the thujan, that gets you, with absinthe.

Do you like black licorice?

Posted

No. I hate it.

Is that what it tastes like?

Posted

The French recipe absinthe does...the Czech recipe absinthes do not. the Czechs do not like that flavor, either. Czech absinthe is commonly flavored with (instead of anise) herbs such as oregano.

Maybe I should try a Czech bottle?

Posted

Maybe.....
