Personally I don't have anything to hide, I may pirate something once in awhile :pirate, but still I thought we had a right to privacy......

Posted

Dang it Bush, stop trying to make the goths go emo!

Posted

I have nothing to hide either.... but that's not the point

Posted

I thought I established that

What part of the act scares you?

Posted

Hm...the part where it exists in this country.

The invasion of privacy without due process to be frank... it seems not very Republican which I believe one of the main thrusts is to have the Federal Government out of peoples personal lives and property, and not very Democratic either, which would be to fight for human dignity....

It just seems kind of... Bush Administrationish.... I don't feel any safer having him as president... in fact the worst terrorist attacks in human history (arguably) happened under his "watch" and this as far as I can tell hasn't made me feel more safe either... now I have terrorists and the government wanting to control me.... and exageration but you get the idea

Republicans may not like big goverment... but they sure don't mind having one that's secretive, abusive of power and willing to deprive you of your rights in the name of national security...

"Meth is easy to make," the president said. "It is highly addictive. It is ruining too many lives across our country. The bill introduces commonsense safeguards that would make many of the ingredients used in manufacturing meth harder to obtain in bulk, and easier for law enforcement to track."

(( Sorry Pharoh ))

So, like, he goes from saying that signing to revive this act (( which I admit I find hard to follow )) will save lives, to saying that Meth is dangerous.

Way to stay on topic.

Someone please explain this ordeal to me because I dont understand it. I may be biased because I hate Bush...... but please clarify WTF is going on....... ;_;

Read: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USA_PATRIOT_Act

That should give you a primer. Skip down to the part labeled "provisions of the act"

Try this for the implications: http://www.november.org/razorwire/rzold/26/page14.html

I'd google and read a few different sources for a reasonable understanding of all sides of this thing.

the actual thought going thru my brain was

"holy fucking god, this is fucking ridiculous...oh MY GAWD!"

Even though I have nothing to hude nor do I do anything illegal, I am sick of the pseudo fascist government sticking their nose in honest citizens business. No wonder I don't vote.

I'd rather live in America where the government CAN spy on you rather than let's say, China, where the government WILL spy on you.

Relax. Don't do it.

And be happy you're here lol.

I have a better idea. Let's not relax... the minute we do we're on the slippery slope to being just like China. No thanks.

If you don't mind giving up your rights, don't complain when you find they're all gone.
