Rush Limbaugh - Ha! What An Ass

This is true enough... however I will extend it not just to racism... but basically anything.

The otherside of the coin is when someone is refusing to see something that is very obvious, but they don't want to believe it.... (Something about not just being a river in Egypt comes to mind)

So, at 12 you have a full grasp of political rhetoric, sarcasm and parody?

Don;t get me wrong, Rush says some pretty inflammatory things. He does it on purpose. He wants people to be shocked into listening to him.

I still don't FULLY grasp those concepts...but I know tone of voice.

Is it not possible to turn the words "Those people" into "Niggers" with the tone of voice?

I don't care why he does it. I see it as what is foul & corrupt...in the world...& I don't like him for it.

.....& oh yeah...he looks evil.

As I said.... looks, drug habits, and so forth aside.... I really don't like what he says, I think that it is not constructive and causes more damage then anything else.

Even I would not lump McCain into the same catagory as the other two.... Limbaugh and Cheney are MUCH worse IMO.

What does he say thats so counter constructive? That we should up-hold the constitution? That all people should be treated equally? That over regulation and taxation are bad things?

Is it what he is saying or how he is saying it?

Is it what he is saying or how he is saying it?

We covered that... but If you would like some examples:

Arrogence: "Enraging liberals is simply one of the more enjoyable side effects of my wisdom."

Hate Speech: "The difference between Los Angeles and yogurt is that yogurt comes with less fruit."

More Bigotry: "He is exaggerating the effects of the disease. He's moving all around and shaking and it's purely an act. ... This is really shameless of Michael J. Fox. Either he didn't take his medication or he's acting."

Sexism: "Feminism was established so as to allow unattractive women easier access to the mainstream of society."

Racism Hate speech: "The NAACP should have riot rehearsal. They should get a liquor store and practice robberies."

More Hate speech: "When a gay person turns his back on you, it is anything but an insult; it’s an invitation"

More Sexism/Hate Speech: "Feminism is a socialist, anti-family, political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians."

Hypocracy: "All those filthy dopers should be just lined up against a wall, and shot!"

Pure Bigotry and Stupidity: "If you don’t believe in God, you have no meaning in your life, and you will thus search for meaning, and you will find it anywhere. Most people, even atheists, want religion of some kind in their life. Hello, global warming, as a substitute—apparently unrecognized and not even organized—religion. Yet it is. So you can set the stage for more people, if the atheists were to ever get their way, of establishing global warming as an unofficial religion that does force people to behave in religious ways, just to a false god: the earth, a tangible god… The global warming people essentially are atheists. You cannot believe in the God of Creation and believe manmade global warming. You just can’t. You might run around and say, ‘I don’t want to destroy God’s creation.’ God’s laughing at you. You can’t! He could, but you can’t. You can’t create it; you can’t destroy it."

These are a few example of what he says that I disagree with and find very nonconstructive. Statements like these cause strife, and hate, not understanding and problem solving. But like most hate speech people are addicted to it... Context or not that is some pretty shitty stuff for a man to say. I don't see anything in the above that talks about people being treated equally or upholding the constitution (maybe I am missing the subtle points of how "When a gay person turns his back on you, it is anything but an insult; it’s an invitation" is asking for people to be treated equally?)

Anyway I think I have made my point... I am not sure why someone would respect a person, drug addict or otherwise who says these things on a public radio show. I hope this answers your Question Gaf.... These are the kind of things that I consider "Counter Constructive" I am not referring to the items you posted above because those are not the kinds of things that he says that I take issue with... they are the kind of things in the list above.

Like all human beings on the planet I think there is more then one side to him...

AND A FEW THAT I THINK ARE HARMLESS THAT HE SAID.... AND IN FACT KIND OF COOL, but as you can see IMO the list above is much larger.

(I don't disagree with everything the man says.. just most of it)

Interesting Observation: "Character matters; leadership descends from character."

LOL: " Did you know that the White House drug test is multiple choice? "

Nice Quote: " Most people's historical perspective begins with the day of their birth. "

And you can make anything taken out of context

I want to go back to the days where Christians were fed to lions. They really deserve it. They are disruptive to the state, and are probably responsible for all the worlds disasters. I say we put them in an arena (like in the Roman days) and force them to fight hungry lions

(10 minutes of talking)

All that stuff I said about Christians was just me being sarcastic

How many of you listen to Howard Stern? If you do then you'll know he says some pretty racist things on his show. So in hearing him say the things he says... do you think he is a racist? AT one point I thought for sure he was... this was when I first starting to listen... after a year or so I noticed a pattern to his comments and started to realize he wasn't racist at all. He used jokes that where racist in nature to show how stupid racism really was and it works, there was a method to his rhetoric but.... you have to be a regular listener to know that.

The same can be said about Rush. If you don't tune in at least 3 times a week... you will never get him. You can not call someone a racist by reading a few quotes or by tuning in every once in a while... you will NEVER get him that way. Rush often talks as if HE is the bigot, the racist - often taking on the character of someone who thinks that way to prove a point or to make the audience understand where he is coming from. Most the time he says these kind of things is because he is trying to tell people "this is how they talk and think about you in reality". Funny thing... where is the page where all the opposite is posted? Where are all the very non-racist things he's said? There's isn't one because that wouldn't serve anyone's purpose now would it? I do tune in 3 to 4 times a week because I work in a vehicle and get very tired of 89X crybaby music - so I listen to a lot of NPR or AM stations to get info on whats going on in the world. I have often heard Rush speak about Blacks in a very positive way but I have also heard him talk about blacks in negative ways ... but not negative as you are trying to say here. In the cases of negativity towards blacks.. It is towards the ones that blindly follow people such as Al Sharpton, Rev Write, Jessie Jackson. If he is prejudice... it is towards those folks and they're followers.

Those folks make a living by drilling into fears black people have and are the ones who persuade black folks to pull out the race card every chance they get. Rush hates these people because they get in the way of having any kind of bonding between the races. These people teach their kids from birth that the white man is evil and they can't be trusted. They train their kids on how to cheat the system... and so forth. I don't like these people either because they are a hindrance to the blacks that don't buy into that BS and are just here trying to survive like the rest of us. And let me tell you... it is that bad. I have a guy at work that believes that the work "picnic" is a racist word... YEAH ... he says it comes from the old south when white people would gather and eat outdoors and find a black dude to hang... he says it's short for... get this... "pick a nigger"!!!! Do you know who taught him that? His mother fucking preacher at his church he grew up in. THAT is the kind of people Rush is prejudice of and he is just as prejudice of white morons that do the same thing. But you wouldn't know that unless you actually listen several times a week.

Take this line I just wrote:

"I don't like these people either because they are a hindrance to the blacks that don't buy into that BS and are just here trying to survive like the rest of us."

Now chop it down to a fraction of what I just wrote:

"I don't like these people either because they are a hindrance"

If I was quoted as saying just that - I would be called a racist when in fact I was making a point and my reasons where because I don't like what is fed into black people's heads.

This is what people just love to do to Rush. If you listen to Rush, you'd know that he is actually for the country and could care less what color you are because it doesn't matter.. it is the BS fed into your head that makes your color matter.... that isn't a racist - that is just a guy who isn't scared to tell it like it is... and that is what frightens people.... particularly Democrats.

If he told some chick (black or white) to take the bone out of her nose... maybe it's because she was acting like a total dumb ass. All races can act like dumb asses.... do we treat each one differently because of their color?

Now see here's one right here:

"He is exaggerating the effects of the disease. He's moving all around and shaking and it's purely an act. ... This is really shameless of Michael J. Fox. Either he didn't take his medication or he's acting."

I was listening during this show and by itself sounds bad but if you heard the whole broadcast, you'd know where he was coming from.

As for Gays - Rush has no problem letting the world know he isn't a big fan of gays. He is a conservative and that kind of goes without saying... I can't believe that is that big of shock!

And dude... have you ever watched a show with a bunch of feminist on it? LOL I support what its all about but come one.... is there at least just one good looking one?

I actually would be interested in seeing the Michael J. Fox story.

Parkinson's without medication actually causes a lack of movement (akinesia.) The fact he was moving or talking at all with medications (most likely at max allowable dose,) is no small effort, and unfortunately from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5INPn9lCNp4, I see quite a few of the nastier side effects of the current treatment regimen, despite the fact he claims he was in a "dearth of medication," at the interview (the dyskinesia shown as he can't sit still, the description of his mood swings (Parkinson's is notorious for depression, the meds are what cause the mood swings.)) And compared to the

the dyskinesia (from what he stated in the interview is an overload of medication,) is worse.

The medications are both variable in onset and variable in effect (the medications won't kick at a set time and reliable effect, REGARDLESS of dose or duration of treatment.) Only a small amount (up to 5% if they are lucky,) reaches the brain to treat the disease, and the remaining systemic medications cause nasty side effects (and he is suffering from a few of them.) So nasty are the side effects that most people with Parkinson's at his age don't start them until the symptoms become intolerable (and that is best clinical practice, also known as standard of care, folks.) There is very little option for these people, as this is the best medical treatment that we have (deep brain stimulation does NOT cure the disease, only makes the symptoms manageable WITH the addition of medication, and still, people get worse.) The fact the medicine simply stop working after time only makes things worse.

Being diagnosed in 1991, the prognosis is that within 20 years (quite possibly less,) he will die from an aspiration pneumonia or drowning in his own secretions as the medications become less and less effective, the remaining dopamine cells die off, and he can no longer clear his secretions or swallow.

I would be most interested in seeing, in context, out of context, or otherwise:

1. How he can call the "excessive moving and shaking" can be in anyway considered "an act," or "an exaggeration."

2. How he can claim this he is "not taking his medication," when the medication actually comes and goes in effect in a disease that the suffer can't control his movements well, if at all.

3. How can he be considered acting, when he has one of the trademark features, the mask facies, prohibits it. (look at him in these videos, and look at his work in the early 80's. His face is like a mask, showing very little, if any emotion compared to his films. It is the reason he had to retire from acting to begin with.)

4. Whether or not Limbaugh issued a clarification on the subject of "shameless acting," to a man who is quite literally dying (given how bad he looked in 2006, it will be the pulling off of some major medical breakthrough for him to make it to 2011 (his 50th birthday, and 20 years from diagnosis.))

BTW, for those of you that don't have access to the neurology books, the neurology journals, and neurosurgery studies, I would refer you to the Wikipedia, as it goes pretty well to what I have been taught, what I have read, and what I have seen. One of the times that cross-referencing with other reading actually clicks with what is written in Wiki.

Wow, we had a brief power outage on Friday morning and I just now had time to boot my computer back up.  It has been a crazy time, but I did get my vehicle back Friday afternoon and new tires put on it Saturday morning.   After 2 years, finally got the AC repaired and the frame rewelded from last year's "repare".  These guys at Gratiot Auto Center: Chris P., Sevo and Damon...Lifesavers!!!   They used to be called Roseville Auto, but this is a new group because I didn't recognize anyone and they didn't have any records of working on my previous vehicle.  Also, there seems to be 2 shifts of workers because I didn't know anyone there today when I went to have the maintenance light turned off from the service that was completed Saturday.   It was literally like night and day.  Chris P. was laid back and handled things with a steady flow, Minnesota Fats style.  The guy today was rushed and hectic like an extra from Everybody Loves Raymond.
