Parkinson's without medication actually causes a lack of movement (akinesia.) The fact he was moving or talking at all with medications (most likely at max allowable dose,) is no small effort, and unfortunately from

target="_blank, I see quite a few of the nastier side effects of the current treatment regimen, despite the fact he claims he was in a "dearth of medication," at the interview (the dyskinesia shown as he can't sit still, the description of his mood swings (Parkinson's is notorious for depression, the meds are what cause the mood swings.)) target="_blank the dyskinesia (from what he stated in the interview is an overload of medication,) is worse.

The medications are both variable in onset and variable in effect (the medications won't kick at a set time and reliable effect, REGARDLESS of dose or duration of treatment.) Only a small amount (up to 5% if they are lucky,) reaches the brain to treat the disease, and the remaining systemic medications cause nasty side effects (and he is suffering from a few of them.) So nasty are the side effects that most people with Parkinson's at his age don't start them until the symptoms become intolerable (and that is best clinical practice, also known as standard of care, folks.) There is very little option for these people, as this is the best medical treatment that we have (deep brain stimulation does NOT cure the disease, only makes the symptoms manageable WITH the addition of medication, and still, people get worse.) The fact the medicine simply stop working after time only makes things worse.

Being diagnosed in 1991, the prognosis is that within 20 years (quite possibly less,) he will die from an aspiration pneumonia or drowning in his own secretions as the medications become less and less effective, the remaining dopamine cells die off, and he can no longer clear his secretions or swallow.

I would be most interested in seeing, in context, out of context, or otherwise:

1. How he can call the "excessive moving and shaking" can be in anyway considered "an act," or "an exaggeration."

2. How he can claim this he is "not taking his medication," when the medication actually comes and goes in effect in a disease that the suffer can't control his movements well, if at all.

3. How can he be considered acting, when he has one of the trademark features, the mask facies, prohibits it. (look at him in these videos, and look at his work in the early 80's. His face is like a mask, showing very little, if any emotion compared to his films. It is the reason he had to retire from acting to begin with.)

4. Whether or not Limbaugh issued a clarification on the subject of "shameless acting," to a man who is quite literally dying (given how bad he looked in 2006, it will be the pulling off of some major medical breakthrough for him to make it to 2011 (his 50th birthday, and 20 years from diagnosis.))

BTW, for those of you that don't have access to the neurology books, the neurology journals, and neurosurgery studies, I would refer you to the Wikipedia, as it goes pretty well to what I have been taught, what I have read, and what I have seen. One of the times that cross-referencing with other reading actually clicks with what is written in Wiki.

We are getting into theology.... But I hardly think that Rush can determine whether or not my life has meaning.... any more then Obama can tell you what foods you enjoy.

And as far as global warming and God.... well this is what makes it a disagreement... I am not sure that all people who believe in a God that created everything would agree with that generalization

It is not up to you to speak for all believers anymore then it is up to me to speak for all Athiests... It is just as insulting for a believer to say that Athiests can have no meaning in their respective lives as it is for a generalization made from an Athiest to all believers in God to state they are all self diluted and foolish...
