Steven Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 I don't know Steven, as Christian as I am I would never vote for someone who says this line: "I hope we answer the alarm clock and take this nation back for Christ." I don't believe ANY ideas about anything that we can't prove ourselves should ever be represented by someone in a political office in this country, I'm huge on separation of church and state. It doesn't just go for Christianity, I'm talking atheists, agnostics, buddhists, taoists, muslims, jewish people, etc. Any faith that has to do with answering the question: "Where do we go when we die?" has no place in politics. I get what you're getting at, but that quote from Huckabee was too representative of Christianity, and I'm sick of the religion getting a bad rap from people shoving it down other people's throats so the last thing we need is a overtly religious republican imo. I believe people's faith are always their own business and shouldn't ever be spoken about or pushed on other people, unless those people are asking and curious, and especially not by someone in a public office. Pushing religious beliefs never convinces anyone (not most Americans anyway) and usually just pisses them off and makes them resent/hate that said religion even more. The words "take back for Christ" sound a bit too forceful and suggestive to me and has no place in the American political system. I don't care if the nation was founded on Christianity, it's time for that all to change. I don't even care if a political person IS Christian (or of any other faith/belief), that's great, that's wonderful, don't shove it down my throat is all, or anyone else's for that matter. Sooo....that's what I'm feelin'. Im feeling that "take back for Christ" should be defined by the opposition before decalring war on it. Im feeling that this guy may very well simply want to restore some good old fashioned decency and order, ethics, scruples, honor, etc....in other words, basic ideals that are rooted in how this J. Christ fellow carried himself. Very few people (beleiver or otherwise) ever talk about what a big prick bigot ass hole hate mongeror Jesus was. think about it... and I'm feeling that this statment: "I don't care if the nation was founded on Christianity, it's time for that all to change" is your right to beleive, and your right to empower if at all possible if you get enough people (dont worry you will) behind that beleif to institute those changes. But its also somebody elses right to disagree with you and likewise rally their peer groups and some might argue that the anti christian rhetoric that is so wildly popular among american youth has a wee bit o the shoved down MY throat flavor as well.... and finnaly, I DONT feel Mike Huckabee (or me, or my current christianese partners in crime) want to push anything, we jsut want to defend that which is critically important to us....sort of like say.... a right to choosers (Pro Choice) choice to rally, demand to be heard, fight for their beleifs, etc.
Destroit Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 I feel all of you need to check this out right here: http://www.detroitgothic.net/t19581.html Only because nobody ever checks the DGN Classified section, so if I didn't post it here I figured hardly anyone would see it
CandyQuackenbush Posted January 3, 2008 Author Posted January 3, 2008 I'm feeling like this thread is getting a tad threadjacked..... Besides that: I feel like these turkey burgers are going to be good! I also feel like I could use my Odims right now.

SuZQZ Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 I feel thrilled that I am off tomorrow (yes, only worked two days this week, whew!) and will be able to get a lot of errands done during the day!
Rayne Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 like bs drama followed me to new York and found a way to interject itself into my forced "vacation" And I am sooooooo cold but thankful I chose to keep the rental car a few more days ... Also happy the rental place screwed up and gave away my reserved little car before my plane came in on the 31st and gave me an 08 Dodge magnum instead. I have NO idea how I'm going to fit all this luggage in my little Mazda.

Rayne Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 Depends on how you look at it. Its put back together but still not done and has to go back after I get home. A part is on backorder and it has what appears to be rubber cord damage all down the drivers side as well as some interior cosmetic issues. I didn't bring it out here. I chose to fly and leave my car in a friends driveway hoping their tree would fall on it. Anyway I'm still fighting them. Bottom line is I got it back on the 22nd and its not fixed.
the eternal Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 I feel like setting fire to Rayne's insurance company. (especially after the car guy I know got the exact Rogue you wanted on his lot)
