Is anyone on thse forums racist?

Funny. When I was 14, a black man came up behind me, held a knife to my throat, and told me that he was going to rape me and that if I shed one tear, he would use the knife. Am I racist?

NO.

He was one person. One asshat doesn't make up for the whole race.

Did he do what he had intended to do?

NO.

He somehow backed off and ran away. I was REALLY lucky. Especially since several years and hundreds of nightmares later his composite sketch was shown on the news. He had apparently raped and murdered a college student. He was wearing the same clothes that he wore when he attacked me.

So, I guess I should be racist to black men who wear rust-colored zip sweaters with blue jeans and a thick beard......

Whatthefuckever.

you are awesome.

Stupid or not, that is the research which apperently you have paid no attention too.

It may not have been someone of a solid race but they were not completely white.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

It's not stupid because it says the original two humans weren't both white. It's stupid because it assumes there were two original humans created by God 6,000 years ago.

I'd love to see how they went about proving that before progressing with their "research."

Oh, and for the record... Who are "they?"

Ok so say I believe that there's a god and he created adam and eve and they spawned the human race. Basically you're saying my beliefs are stupid??? So just because you don't think it possible then that makes it so. Hmmm so in that running I take you as God? Interesting.

If you want to see the research, then look it up, or watch the programs. If you're too lazy to do that, then I'm not doing it for you.

And another thing, they have found a genetic link betweens human males that has been linked back to one male. This male was believed to be located in Africa. Not to say he couldn't be white. But since there's more shades of tan then there are white I'm going with he wasn't white.

Anyway back to the who's who in the racist community.

What is the definition of racist?

According to the Nation of Islam leader Louis Farakahn, black people can not be racist because they have no power (according to him), thus JaneDead's story would not have a racist in it according to some people.

I'm not saying I agree at all with that outlook, but different people have different parameters for what they consider to be racist and everyone is jumping down Slaughs throat without knowing exactly how he feels about anything. Though, considering the rules of DGN, I don't think this is the right place to air such views at all.

I hate white people, by the way.

Beliefs aren't stupid. Basing something pseudo-scientific off of unprovable beliefs... IS.

I've heard racism described as a majority group in power subjugating a minority group based on their race alone. That fits with Louis Farrakhan's definition.

However, the word "racism" has definitely been co-opted to include any person who judges any other person based on race alone. Most people seem to use it in this context.

The reason people are "jumping down his throat" is because he is a self-proclaimed racist, but he's not confident enough in the validity of his reasons to put them in front of us. That's why he MADE the topic- he wanted to get a reaction. Nothing more.

I don't know that is why he made the topic, he made the topic so only he knows. I do think there is a discussion to be had on the validity of racism behavior. Some have described racism as a form of self defense. Before going to Mecca, Malcolm X really did not trust or like caucasion's at all, even describing white women as devils in the Alex Haley book. He retracted alot of that and admitted he was wrong, but I have had discussions with African Americans who say that Malcolm X's viewpoint was justifiable.

P.S They did do a study by the way that I believe proved Eve (half the help in creating ALL man) was BLACK!!!!!!  Which means all you out there that are racist are only hating.....YOURSELVES!!!!

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

No offense, but that has got to be the dumbest thing I've ever heard. My head just exploded. Seriously.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I just wanted to say sorry to HM for this response. As for anything else having to do with this , I must say I was ready to make this long post about blah blah .. but you know what ? I remembered Marcs post about not having anything nice to say =) Thanks tubesteak =) :happydance.

And getting back on topic, I believe you all know that I am not racist..... like I said before .. I just hate everyone

Thanks for the apology but I never read what you wrote.

Second that other quote was not of my making. So which one were you trying to insult?

Posted

Something else that I'm noticing in this thread.

There's a lot of "I'm not racist but I hate people in general" comments.

Why do we have to hate at all? I'm not clean of this thought either but it just makes me think. Why do we always have to hate someone????

The saying of don't hate the player hate the game comes to mind. Why should we hate the person but not the actions??? We should hate the things people are being told, not the people who were taught this.

A perfect segue into a Martin Luther King Jr. quote I heard today.. from a 14 year-old, of all people.

"Like an unchecked cancer, hate corrodes the personality and eats away its vital unity. Hate destroys a man's sense of values and his objectivity. It causes him to describe the beautiful as ugly and the ugly as beautiful, and to confuse the true with the false and the false with the true."

What more needs to be said?

THe second quote is a reponse from what you had stated above.

I was saying sorry because I believe you dont deserve that kind of response, if someone disagrees with they should do it with an honest and adult like debate, not just calling what you said stupid. And Im sorry you were treated like that.

You never read what I wrote because that was my first post =) silly.

And Im not trying to insult any of them, well I wasn't anyway. Hence why I said thanks to Marc. Because I had nothing nice to say about the other party involved besides yourself. :wink

You know this really is an interesting topic. I'd love to say "no I’m no racist, I think everyone is equal.. blah blah blah.." But I cant. You see I think we all have our preconceived notions of people because of society’s views on their race, gender, hell, hair color. As a society we have certain preconceived notions about people, wrong as they may be, its very hard for us to separate that from instinct. For example, why is it that black men are stereotyped as violent dominant masculine individuals? Answer, society portrays them that way. We are bombarded by that imagery because it makes good news and people perpetuate it. Same thing applies with so many other things, beauty, and fashion; whatever. To be truly not a racist you'd have to be completely indifferent to societies pressure, which for me is impossible. I'm a white late 20's fairly successful guy. I dive a conservative car, play golf, have a 401k, do the stock market thing, dress very conservatively and even have gym/country club membership. I get profiled all the time as a very conservative person but umm... I'm probably the furthest thing from it. Perception is the issue at play here. Racism is the same thing. We perceive people we don’t know based on characteristics society has ingrained in us at pertaining to that "class" of people. I think we all are racist, but for the most part, to function in society we observe courtesy and respect. Some do so better then others and I think I’m open minded enough to lump myself in that category but I don’t by any stretch of the word think I’m not racist. I see someone I don’t know and instinctively I may draw conclusions about that individual before meeting them. It’s when you choose to not talk to them, ridicule them or worse that the line is crossed and you truly become a piece of shit. Besides didn’t you know that everyone on this form is devil worshipping, sexual deviant looking to spread blight onto the beautiful suburban landscape? I mean isn’t that what “normal” people think when they see a “Goth”? My two cents.

I know this isnt racism...but It falls under the same catergory as discrimination...but I cant stand it when people cant tolerate diffrence...u know how many people turned me down for a date because im in a wheelchair?...or people have turned down hanging out with me cause im a "burden"...and that has stuck with me...im always thinking im a burdern on my freinds...I always think now...do they actually like me or do they feel sorry for me...and that sticks with me and probably going to for the rest of my life...

Some people dont realize the pain and torment this causes...Though Ive had alot of people try to comfort me and tell me that im not a burden and they dont feel sorry for me...its still hard to believe...why would anyone want to be freinds with a cripple?

And I HATE those people that did that to me...because of them I second guess my freinds and myself...As if i didnt have enough problems with my life...I have to add this to the list...

So I guess Im discriminative against discrimination I suppose...

I'm sorry...rant off...

Ummm For you information Mitochondrial Eve is the name of a theoretical Homo Sapiens woman that lived about 200,000 years ago for which all humans MtDNA can be traced and Eve is the name of the oldest Australopithecine bones ever found and just happen to be a female that we all share trait DNA with. It only pertains to the bible as far as the name Eve. Now as for Mitochondrial Eve, Mungo Man has seemingly disprove the theory based around her. His MtDNA is drastically different supporting the multi-regional theory of evolution that RACISTS love to cling to. It states "between one and two million years ago, Homo erectus - a human ancestor - migrated from Africa. As erectus spread over the earth, different groups went through the process of evolutionary change based on natural selection" Yet still using this argument even if it is true would still be stupid because if you shave any ancestral simian you will find it has black skin, and I mean BLACK not brown.

Do your research before you call something pseudo-science, it's not hard and it makes your argument seem less stupid IE don't presume you understand what some one is saying when you don't have any facts.

Oh I forgot...

We of the GOTHIC persuasion have no right to be discriminatory except against those that are. I mean we constantly walk around saying "Don't judge me because of how I look."

That's just as bad as discrimination. You didn't ask to be in a wheelchair. You just are. Just as others from different races didn't ask to be there, either. My son gets discriminated against at times, as he's a high-functioning autistic child. Pisses me off.

*hugs*

Word.

It's not how we look. It's who we are.

Wowzers...this topic became pretty heated....

which is why I hate these sensitive topics.

Nobody knows what things were like 1000's of years ago. All we have is outdated documents, bones that were unearthed we took a GUESS as to old how it was....we can do carbon dating and estimate a time period, but we don't know. Do bones reveal skin color? Not that I am aware of.

Nobody is right.

Everybody is wrong.

Is it relevant in the end? In my opinion, No. Is anyone superior? No. Is everyone the same? NO. Can we accept our differences? No..Why? I have no idea.....

Hate is a strong word. I hate the wod hate.

OOh lol sorry I misunderstood. I thought you had posted something and then edited it out.

That would be the definition of prejudiced, not racist. I have yet to meet a person who is not prejudiced at all, myself included. Prejudism extends into other areas which include prejudgment of the disabled, social classes, drug abusers, goths, bald people, fat people, intelligent people, artists, musicians, motorcyclists.... None of these actually draw "racial" lines. There are still certain assumptions that are made to various extents against all these people.

TLS, I do not believe that you are racist. Give yourself more credit than that.
