I've never smoked anything, never tried anything, nothing. Not saying it to be elitist, it's just the way it is.

The main reason I never tried smoking was because I suffered from asthma for many yrs where I had a very hard time breathing without (ab)using inhalers, and ciggy's were (in my mind) something that would make it every harder to breathe so I just never tried them.

Once I got my nutrition under control, the asthma/allergies went bye-bye & gave me a new lease on life. I have been asthma/allergy-free for 10 yrs, and love the fact that I can actually breathe all the way into the deepest areas of my lungs. I have enjoyed athletic pursuits I never dreamed would be possible, and have a Figure skating National Gold medal (in Synchronized skating) to my credit (among other many skating accomplishments as well).

Not judging anyone on their choices to smoke, not smoke, or whatever. The above is simply my story!

I adore that.

I used to have asthma as well, and i can completely relate to the changes i endured when i finally QUIT smoking, doing any drugs or alcoholic substances,

and started cooking at home, using natural remedies and exercising(haven't been to the doctor in a year which is BIG for me).

:) It nice to see some genuine feedback on this thread regarding a healing process......this is what i wanted to see.

THIS IS WHY i was so AVID to state my opinion on the consequences of cigarettes....because if it hadn't have been for me quitting...(including marijuana) i wouldn't have ended up a healthy, happy, free individual.

Nutritional therapy works. It's amazing because people always want my "advice" on this/that, but never want to actually pursue it so I don't waste my breath anymore. They just want to take a pill from the Doctor because it is "easier."

I always like to tell people that our bodies were never designed to be "sick." If we give our bodies the right tools to do their jobs, then the body WILL heal on its' own (I've had it happen personally so I know this works!!!!). None of us will live forever, but who wants to spend their life being sick all the time? I'd rather have quality of life while I am on this earth.

I will admit I haven't read the rest of the thread with other peoples' responses to you....just your initial post about ciggy's. Hope I was able to provide some perspective tho! :)

i wasn't attacking people.

simple.

You might want to read some of your responses again.

You said a lot of things toward people who tried to disagree with you that could be considered pretty antagonistic.

I do find it kind of interesting how vehemently you responded, though.

you must understand gaf(i barely know him, i dont mean to judge in a negative, i hope you dont interpret it that way), its like those who use ebonics to those who speak old english. gaf loves science, and in science words stay static, unless some new facts come up. it has nothing to do with smoking, just how the english language is interpreted is sometimes void of the dictionary to simplify things. just shrug it of. no need to bicker over words and then turn that into throwing words around.

If the consequences of smokeing are so set... so negative to human health... How can some people live to be 90 years old with no lung problems at all... and have smoked every day of thier adult life?

How is it my grand mother is 83 years old, has smoked since she was 15 and still has good strong lungs and a strong heart?

How about my father? He smoked till the day he died. He worked in a petroleum refinary for 33 years. He had lung tests every year. Every year his lungs tested as good as an 19 year old athlete's.

and just so you know. I have smoked since I was 12. I'm 41. I am dieing from emphezema. Not from the cigs... I was in an industrial accident and my lungs were seared by chemicals. Smoking or not, I am going to die before my youngest child graduates highschool.

My point is, and medical science along with real world cases that support it, do not support your views.

I've only tried a cigarette once, and didn't particularly care for it. Yeah it was relaxing, but it tasted like shit.

Smoking doesn't disqualify a beautiful and appealing woman for me, but it IS a minus. I don't care all that much if people around me (including the girls I like) want to smoke, but I prefer it if they don't.

I'm not sure... are you calling someone a clown? Or the debate in general... god damn I wish you would learn English.

They did not only disagree, but insulted me.

I have a right to my opinions, and also a right to defend them.

I wasn't being rude.

I stated a fact, and my opinion.

I'm in awe how i can be perceived as rude,....

but then again, i was posting mostly in defense of my "point"

which still...as i have seen, hasn't been truly understood.

So are fat people, but I don't see anyone trying to ban fat people from eating all they want or forcing them to exorcise.

hmmm i wonder how im the only one being targeted as rude.

Reeeeeaaalllllly?????

Just because YOU smoked to be cool.....When you where, what, like 13.....Does not mean the rest of us did.....

You should not be so judgmental, it is not very attractive..... :no

or judgmental....

Why would you start a thread that just tries to make you look better than others if you were not worried what other people think of you?????

& why would you include this statement, if the reason has nothing to do with your point?????

I don't generally get involved in these childish discussions about things like, how grody smoking is, but I feel you were being rude.....

Smoking is a serious addiction, and it is not proper to go around insulting people for having an addiction.....One that you probably don't even quite understand, because looking at how old you are, and how long you smoked, You probably only smoked when you got the chance, witch dose not constitute a full blown addiction.....

When you are addicted to something it rules you life in many ways.....

I am NOT disagreeing that smoking is bad or unattractive.....

I am unhappy with your "better than others" attitude.....

hmm...I think its just easy to pick on the kid with a brain....

I was just making a point, kid.....Now your all offended.....Now go some place else and :cry

rude, presumptuous, misplaced statements...and I'm targeted.

Ah well so is life, Still not losing any sleep.

Because i know, I am not rude, And if you believe i am, quote something specific,....I'll apologize, but if you can't in reference to the context in which its written in, hold your tongue please,....I am not rude, "mean", presumptuous, or immature, but i will stick up for a strong opinion of my own, and defend accusations of such with gusto.

:)

Look at me as you will, but be aware that knowing OF me...is not knowing me.

My words don't define me, and your interpretation of them do not as well.

"keep up the good work boy'o"

"Try being original."

"and is still, despite your best efforts,

full of shit."

Im not losing sleep, just shows how naive people can be.

Do you expect me to take anything you say now seriously?

Im only judging the nature of the habit, and the naive responses i always tend to get.

wtf are you seriously trying to prove?

sure it was a slight attack on your choices...but some learn from mistakes and some don't,

not my place to judge.

your choice to poison yourself is good enough for me to dismiss your "smug" comments.

co-dependent much?

Look again at your words.

Many of these were in response to reasoned debate. I didnt quote the depth of material you left after provoking emotional responses from people.

As for your words not defining you? Where exactly do you think you are?

You're on the internet.

Here, YOU ARE YOUR WORDS.

If you're going to start a debate on a forum, you can learn how to defend your point without resorting to fallacy (and *do* look that up before assuming fallacy=untruth) and calls to emotion rather than reasonably backing up your arguement. If all you wanted was for people to agree with you, why on earth did you start a thread? You had to know people would disagree, and you could have calmly debated instead of resorting to telling people how stupid they are for not agreeing with you.

We're on a board where this sort of bickering is discouraged. Make a reasoned arguement and lay off the cheap theatrics, or have the damn thread closed.

Its just another slow form of suicide.

Alright, this is probably going to come off as very mean and disrespectful so I apologize in advance.

I absolutely HATE when people compare smoking to suicide. Believe me dear child there is a major difference. I have lost two people in 5 years because they felt the need to kill themselves. After both I was smoking two packs a day, not eatting, not sleeping and generally just trying not to lose it. If you had any idea how tramatic a suicide death is for the people left behind, you would never compare it to anything.

As for smoking, I've been a smoker since I was 12. Currently I'm 22 and have maybe 3 cigs a day because one of my medications has a side effect that makes me not want nicotine. I smoke because I want to and it helps keep my stress level down or when I'm driving up north to see my family it helps keep me alert. I understand that you don't like smoking, but the way you are saying it makes you look like an immature cunt. If you don't like smoking don't go to bars or clubs and when going to a resturant sit in the non smoking section. Do not go and basically say everyone one who smokes is an idoit, because it's our choice to do so, and if you don't like it then don't come around us.
